I am not stating a true or false fact but I am rather asking a question...I "thought" if you were jewish you couldnt donate your body parts....am I correct or incorrect?
Being Jewish and donating organs are not really related. What makes the differance I think is how the person practices their faith. Orthodox Jewish people for example would probably not be allowed to do it. A reformed Jewish person might...... that's because they do not follow all of the "laws" (this is for lack of a better word)................................but I know for sure I have had many people at the funeral home who were jewish and donated organs (and some even have tatoos and that is considered taboo as well!)
Maybe one of our Jewish girls can clear this up?

Re: Spinoff to BODIES The Exhibition
they can have any or all of my body parts as necessary!!
Because of Organ donation, my dad...both a heart and kidney recipient...is still alive and well and walked both my sister and I down the aisle!!

I'm on the donor list...although I can't imagine being on display at the Bodies Exhibit.
Most of them are men anyway, so I don't really have to worry about that.
I think all were chinese / mongolian too There was at least 1 womens full body on display for sure...and all the reproductive organs of a women were there too.....so at least 2 were used!

I know with the tatoos you cant be buried on a jewish cemetary. I wonder if thats true in terms of organ donors? In addition autopsy are a no no in the jewish religion. I am jewish but I am not religious so i am just stating "things Ive heard" so if anyone has definite answers they are welcomed.

some familes of people who died in car accidents felt that b/c their childern were organ donors- the were worked on a long as they should of been before pronoucing them
it was right around the time I got my drivers lic so it stuck in my head
I heard the same story a while back.
If you don't put it on your liscense, how do they know you want to donate if you were to die suddenly?

Re: Spinoff to BODIES The Exhibition
to answer the question - yes I would donate, but I really haven't done anything to let my family or whoever needs to know - know it
