Spinoff to 100 dollar budget for groceries. What do you pack for lunch?
I really should pack dh lunch. What do you pack? Especially if you are on a budget. Thanks

I usually bring a Smart Ones/Lean Cuisine/Healthy Choice because they are easy- just grab n go. And it's a hot meal.
I get tired of sandwiches.
But I only buy whatever is on sale- without a sale those things are pricey for the amount of food you get!

Well, pb & j on whole wheat with a bag of carrots is pretty standard for me
I also sometimes pack cold cuts or soup

pita bread with cold cuts
salad with chicken - I buy a big thing of salad or a head or two of lettuce for the week, put some in a tupperware container to take for lunch, and add torn up coldcuts or chicken, steak, or whatever leftovers we have from the night before.

Lean Cuisines but I try not to eat them all week since they are high in sodium.
Salads from Trader Joe's- still cheaper than buying a salad or sandwich from the deli. DH likes their sandwiches.
Leftovers from dinner the night before.

I usually buy lunch at work....it's a school so we have a cafeteria and they have a salad bar. My lunch period is usually early enough that I can get there before everyone else has picked it over. And it's about $5.

If not, I buy cold cuts and make sandwiches.

That sounds pretty awesome
If I chanced the lunch at my school, I'd be spending 8th period in the bathroom.. or getting my stomach pumped

This week BH Everroast Chicken was on sale. So I brought 3 slices each day and put it in my salad. I also brought baby carrots, fruit salad, and BBQ popchips.

It depends on what I buy/make that week.
DH brings PBJ every.single.day. He likes it, its cheap and easy. If cold cuts are on sale, I'll buy 1/2lb for him. In the summer he likes tuna salad and homemade chicken salad sandwiches.
I bring leftovers, wraps or soup. I made a big batch of pesto this week, so I made wraps with pesto, fresh mozz and tomatos or some leftover chicken. I like to make soups or stews and bring those with some bread. I bring cereal in little baggies and skim milk. I have oatmeal in my desk. I make a big batch of pasta salad with veggies or leftover chicken and can have that all week.

Cold cuts on sandwich thins. When I was pregnant, bagels with cream cheese. I have these small Tupperware snack containers that we fill with cookies, cheese-its, grapes. We always pack a piece of fruit.

a sandwich, pretty much every day-- either turkey, ham, or PB. If I run out of bread, I just bring a yogurt & some fruit or a fiber one bar.

I actually buy school lunch almost every day. It's pretty good and only costs $2.25!
I'll sometimes stock up on Lean Cuisines when they're on sale and keep them in the faculty room freezer. Every now and then I'll bring in leftovers or a sandwich.

I go home to eat lunch but this is what I have almost everyday:
Plain Chobani with Honey
Veggies with Hummus
Apple with Peanut Butter
I pack for my dh:
Turkey and cheese (any type) sandwich with lettuce and mustard
Pretzels or Granola Bar or Fruit or Cookies, etc.

Turkey on whole wheat or sandwich thins and a soup-at-hand, and some fruit or baby carrots.
A Lean Cuisine/Healthy Choice/Smart Ones, and a fruit or veggies.
Leftovers
PB&J on whole wheat & an apple or banana.
Tuna on whole wheat, baby carrots.
When I make salad with dinner, I make extra and take it for lunch the next day, either with meat or tuna or cheese in it.

DH and I both work from home now, but when he was working at an office, he generally either took leftovers or a turkey sandwich and fruit salad.

This or a variation of this is what I basically eat every day (sometimes I add cinnamon to the yogurt though!). Or a laughing cow light swiss on my apple.
