Yes - deadbolt. The doorknob locks don't do much. The lock on the handle if you bang on the door enough it will pop open even if it's locked... so the deadbolts are what we use.

Its hard to lock them after school. I have a teenager who is in and out. My youngest plays outside, but during the day I do.

Our door is usually locked and we only lock the dead bolt at night.
Once in a while when I know someone is on their way over, I will unlock it so they can come right in. Other than that, it's always locked.

answering my own question here, but we always locked the door at my house and even now living w/DH, ALWAYS.
we had the front screen door unlocked once and someone tried to walk in :ah:
when my dh lived at home-his fam would keep the doors unlocked all the time
a couple of times the back kitchen door was actually open w/screen door unlocked

I just use the doorknob lock during the day but throw the deadbolt when I am out or at night.

I never used to lock my door. Growing up, our door was always unlocked and even open! When I got my first place, i would leave it unlocked most of the time. Since DH and I have been living together, we always lock the doors.

Usually. If DH is outside doing yardwork then the door is unlocked. But if we're in for the night then it's completely locked up. In the winter the front door usually is only opened to get the mail then locked back up!

Yes...ever since that sicko murdered Denice Fox.  For whatever reason I wasn't as consistent with it until that happened.
If DH is home and doing work in/on or around the house and therefore has to go in & out a lot, then obviously I don't lock the doors on him.

Yes. Our front door locks when it closes, but we usually have the deadbolt on too, unless we are going to be in & out a lot (to garden, or unpack the car, not to go anywhere)
I have a lot of families member who think I'm crazy, b/c the doors, windows & car are always locked.
