Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:
I haven't had any but I've always wanted to.
And the way I feel about it now is... there are certain things I wish I would have done BEFORE I had a child.
However, there are NOW things that I want to have done after I'm done having children that I only want done BECAUSE I having children.
It's a catch 22.
After having a child, it's alot harder to take a risk with your life. You want to be around for your child. How stupid would it be for me leave my child motherless because I wanted my boobs to be perkier or I wanted to cut out my stretchmarks?
That's what I will have to grapple with when it's time for the tummy tuck.

I have that skin around my abdomen that looks like a woman after shes had a baby except I have no baby. I had a major weight loss that left me with a flap that looks like an apron. DH met and fell in love with me this way and has never once complained about it. You'd think it would be enough. Its not.
Imagine feeling like a work in progress for 5 years and I swear to you all that no amount of exercise will tighten up that skin. You just cannot tighten up skin that used to be filled up by over 100 extra pounds for most of your adult life. Nobody can tell the difference when I am in clothes. That skin is keeping a formerly sized 24 in a size 10 when she could very well be a size 8. It matters and I am not shallow for thinking that way. And yes, I DO exercise. The muscles underneatth the skin are tight - the skin is loose. I only thank G-d that my arms don't look like bat wings but come hell or high water, I will have breast augmentation and abdominoplasty after I have children. DH is in support of it
FACT- I am a hell of a lot more attractive now than I was then and people can tell me I am beautiful til they are blue in the face - they did when I VOLUNTARILY went under the knife to have weight loss surgery (WHICH IS NOT PLASTIC SURGERY - people often say it is). But unless a person feels and sees their beauty themselves, all of the compliments in the world do not amount to much. There is still work left to be done.
Right there with you babe

Anyone planning on having anything done in the near future??
Haven't had anything done...yet.
I was scheduled for a breast reduction about 9 years ago, but ended up cancelling the procedure the week before my surgery. I just had bad feelings about the surgeon and decided to wait.
I totally intend to have some type of breast augmentation/reduction and a tummy tuck once I'm done having children.

I plan to have a breast reduction and lift after I have children! I contemplated having this done before my wedding, but decided to wait a few more years so I wouldn't have to have it again!

had it done and I will have it again.
same here. i don't regret my decision at all. most people don't even notice the difference, but i do and feel SO much more confident now. after i'm done having children, i would consider another procedure depending on how my body holds up.
feel the same.

How many of you have had something done? Are you willing to share what you had done and why?
For those who have not - have you ever thought about it? How do you feel about cosmetic surgery in general? I'm curious to see how "mainstream" it is and how many people have had something done and why.
Anyone planning on having anything done in the near future??
I have never had anything done, and I definitely think about it - all the time. I'm a huge "fan" of cosmetic surgery (within limits.)
Once I have children, a tummy tuck, lipo, and breast reconstruction would be something I'm looking into.

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:
It doesn't bother me - I haven't done it, but I won't say I wouldn't
IF you have the money to do it, and it's going to make you happy - then why not?
The only thing that would turn me off is that it's elective surgery, and God forbid something ever happened I'd be kicking myself for doing something I didn't really NEED to do -

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:
I should have gotten a nose job in high school. I know it would have been like an Ashlee Simpson difference to my look. But, I couldn't afford it and would have been to scared anyway. At this point in my life, I could care less, I'm married and have friends who are not judging me on my nose. Plus, I think I would look too different, it would be too weird.

I haven't had anything done - I hate the idea of surgery and the healing but I think once I am done having kids I want to look into Breast augmentation and **possibly** tummy tuck - that last one is a HUGE maybe...sacres me the most...

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:
My nose has really been bothering me lately. I believe it is growing at the tip and getting fatter. I am sure losing weight may change the look a bit but unfortunately the women in my family have this ball on the end of their nose. I guess they would just go in and define the tip a bit. Don't know if I would ever do it but I've thought about it!

I had a breast reduction. Best decision I ever made. Insurance paid for it so I guess in my case it wasn't totally elective.

perhaps god gets really busy and forgets things from time to time - i think he did a great job on me overall - he just forgot to finish it... when he got to my boobs - lol - he must have had an emergency come up and said "ehhh this one is going to have to be done AS IS"

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:
I would definitely get plastic surgery!
I would get a breast lift and augmentation ( a little one), and I would get lipo.My nose is on the big side w/ a bump, but I like it, so I wouldn't touch it.
Is restylane/botox considered plastic surgery? I would do that too.
ETA: DH's Mom had tons of plastic surgery (face lifts, boobs etc.), so he finds it a bit unattractive and wasteful...he is against it.

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:
I used to be a No Way girl.
but now. I will definitely be fixing any tummy issues I have after having a baby (and losing the weight/toning up as much as possible). and depending on how my boobs fare, my have them yanked up an inch or two LOL
I have also been wondering about getting something done to my eyes once I get older.
I have small eyelids with a heavy fold thing...they are cute and small now, but I am afraid the folds will turn into eye jowls.
my face is probably my best asset. I am vain enough and unashamed enough to say that I fear losing whatever "beauty" I posses. not that I am so gorgeous, but my face just trumps the rest of me, kwim?
I am quasi interested in Lipo, but afraid of where I would see any other weight gain after fats comfy home in my thighs is demolished.

I've never had anything done. If I could afford it, I would. I have never looked bad at anyone for getting anything done, just the ones who cheap out and get what they pay for.
My mom had a boob job a few years after I was born and is so happy with hers (she used to celebrate their birthday). She was teased horribly and hated the way that she looked before. For her it was great.
