Sophie vs. Sophia
What are your opinions on the names Sophia and Sophie. The middle name will be Grace and our last name is Morales, but I am not sure which to go with. People keep telling me Sophie is a nickname and I should call her Sophia...I don't think this is true-thought?

Re: Sophie vs. Sophia
I think that with Sofia, you have more versatility. You can call her either Sofia or Sofie. I do think of Sofie as more of a nickname but it seems totally normal to me to name a girl by that name. My sister's name is Jenny and growing up, people thought it was a nick name for Jennifer. I think it's the same idea. If Sofie is your #1 choice, then I would go for it!

Re: Sophie vs. Sophia
I atually prefer Sophie over Sophia. I do not think of Sophie as a nickname. If my girlfriend didn't just name her baby girl Sophie that would be my top choice in a girls name!

Me too!! And you can call her Sophie as a shorter form of Sophia if you like. Best of both worlds!

Sophie sounds like a nickname to me for some reason. My cousin's name is Sophia and we call her Sophie.

Re: Sophie vs. Sophia
I like Sophie better personally.
We know someone who's daughter's name is Sophia but they call her Sophie...it confuses me The letters on the wall in her room say Sophie, not her birth name. IMO, they're too similar to have 1 be a nickname for the other.

I love both names. I think if you want her called Sophie then you should name her Sophie then!

Re: Sophie vs. Sophia
I think sophie is a nickname too... in a way, naming her sofia will mean you can casually use either name....
