sooooooo need to vent edited with question on 2nd page
My level II is scheduled for next Wed...DH has been very excited about it, knew about it all along. Well today he gets an e-mail from the head of his desk that there is a dinner that they are throwing for the head head head honcho for that NIGHT...the level II is scheduled for 5pm. Just called my office, there is no opening again till the week after, which we cannot do bc we're freaking moving and having he kitchen installed all of that week, then we get into the week after and they think it's going to be too late to do it...
So basically I'll have to go with DD and DH and not find out...I'm sooooo freaking angry, upset and really want to just freak out on DH when I know he has no control over it...

That totally stinks!!
I thought you found out what you were having at the last appt? Was it still too early so they guessed?
At my level 1 the Dr said he has a pretty good idea what the baby is and both DH and I said... NO, we don't want to find out.
I think the envelope idea is good.
Not sure if DH will miss my Level 2 on the 18th b/c he's missing so much work when we go to Aruba. My appt is during the day and he may be on LI. I'm not finding out... although it's not so easy.

Re: sooooooo need to vent
That stinks. I like the envelope idea also. Or just have them put it into your file and have DH come to your next doctors appointment and your doctor can tell you then.

they took a guess, but honestly they took a guess with Chels and were wrong, so I'm not really going by that... I know I won't be able to do the envelope thing, I have absolutely no patience as it is and with this pregnancy I'm a nutcase...ugh I'm sooo freaking upset..and then he's like well I'll have my mom come with you..ummmmmmmmm NOOOOOOO that makes it even freaking worse...if anything I'll have my mom go

That's so awful! I would be so upset too.
I like the sealed envelope idea that a PP mentioned, would you try that?
Ugh poor thing, that really stinks!

aww I'm sorry! The envelope is s great idea! Ask the tech to include a pic of the baby's "parts" so you are still finding out and seeing it for the first time together. This will be just as exciting, too!

Re: sooooooo need to vent
that totally sucks!! i'm with you though, if my DH wasn't there i wouldn't be able to wait to find out without him.
logistically is there no way he can still go and just be a little late to the dinner? or is it too far?

Nope, we were thinking that, but he's in the city, the dinner is at 630. My appt is at 5, by the time I'm done it'll probably be 6ish and then by the time he catches another train back...it's just too much...UGH!!!

Re: sooooooo need to vent
can ur dr write u a script and u have it done at another place (like a zwagner and perisi) when its convientant for u? I know someone who had to do it this way and it worked out.
The only thing is they wont give u ur results right then and there if somethingis wrong.. u have to wait for ur dr to call u and let u know everything is ok but u do get to see the baby and find out the sex.

First - sorry that is a bummer. I do like the envelope idea and also the above idea. I know a great place in the city that is SUPER prompt, professional, and has all sonos in 3D!! If your doctor will refer you to an outside place try Carnegie Imaging Centers - they even have free crackers, juice, cookies, coffee etc to get your LO moving!
They have two locations but one is better than the other. .

Re: sooooooo need to vent
can he get out of this dinner? Tell them he had previous plans that he can not get out of...it happens.
I am sure his bosses will understand that he had a previous engagement and can't not get out off. Does he know this person well, that sent the email? can't he just tell this person that sent the email?

not an option at all...it's the head of the US desk, it's a once in a lifetime invite..and I wouldn't make him do that..he told his direct boss abt the appt and his direct boss said you have to do what you're comfortable with but ppl on his desk basically said if you don't go he's missing out on something huge, for his career, for a lot of things, and I don't want to do that to him...
I heard about doing it at an outside place....they actually mentioned that (my office) but I'd rather just have everything done in my office, just seems like it would be more smooth that way

Oh no! I would be upset as well. As hard as it might be try to resist the urge of finding out in the office and have them write it down. I think it will be more special for the two of you to find out together. (Says the girl who is team . Lol)

When your husband is the sole provider bc I'm a SAHM and you just bought gutted and renovated a home and still have tons of things to buy for a new baby and he's in the finance industry that isn't doing well as it is...and the head of US operations for his company and his division invites him to dinner, I would NEVER expect him to say NO. I used to work so I know what the position he's in right now...
ETA: did not mean for that to come of b!tchy at all...so sorry if that did

Re: sooooooo need to vent
That stinks ( though this is my chance to try to convince you to stay team - J/K )
Like a PP said, is there anyway possible you can have it done elsewhere ? The big sonos are so important to me that I can completeley understand how upset you are and know I would be devestated as well.....
Also, make sure the staff knows to call you in the event of a cancellation...Or (not sure how close he works to your OB) , but can he meet you on a lunch hour or something ???

Re: sooooooo need to vent
How far is the dinner from the doctor's office?
I can't see a dinner starting at exactly 5. Can he go to the appointment and then go to the dinner afterward?

I didn't take it that way I just meant that, if it's a dinner and not work, is it mandatory... and there have GOT to be other people there that have kids and would understand if he were a little late. My DH has an issue saying no to his job too, but sometimes you have to do what you feel is right
