Sono & Internals..
I am 32 weeks today !!! I went to the Dr. yesterday ... all was fine.. did the 'normal' checkup.. weight, bp, heart beat and measured my belly. All is extremely well... BUT... shouldn't they start giving me some sort of sono to see if the baby is turned ?? What about internals... when do they usually start??? I relocated from NY to NC a mo. and a half ago and I am not particulary 'fond' of my new Dr(S). It is a very big practice and it like a lottery everytime I go. They have about 6 ob/gyns there and you never know who youre getting and when you deliver its the same deal. I am very upset over this but it's too late to change now. I absolutely LOVED my Dr. in NY and I had a hard time moving because of this reason... he was so warm and friendly and very thorough not to mention gave me a sono at office visits to see the babys progress. Anyway...................... I feel they are a little lax here ?? Maybe it's me.. but what is your opinion? I think since I am a new patient so far along.. they could have done a sono when I first went.. or even now..

Re: Sono & Internals..
I know all doctors are different but its still a bit early I think for internals.. The doctors really dont like poking around there until your a little closer.. I just had my first internal yesterday at 35 weeks... Growth sonos I think also are usually done a little bit later on.. I think I might have mine at about 36 or 37 weeks.

Re: Sono & Internals..
I think they start internals after 36 weeks and not every doctor gives sonograms at every visit. I think 32 weeks is still at little early.

Re: Sono & Internals..
Not all doctors do growth sonos. My midwives don't -- they feel the sonos aren't accurate and that they can tell just as much by feeling my stomach. They have been able to tell me that is head down (yeah -- stay that way!!) since 29 weeks. If your doctor knows what he's doing, you don't need a sono to tell if the baby is breech or not.

Re: Sono & Internals..
Not all do growth sonos and the internals started around 36 weeks when I went weekly. My Dr. only did an internal twice.

Re: Sono & Internals..
My doctor said there would be NO more sono's unless there is a medical reason
I don't know much about internals, but it seems 32 weeks is a bit early. Good to know - I'm right behind you!!

Re: Sono & Internals..
I had my first internal at 35 weeks -- and I still have not had a growth sono (and I am 37 wks tomorrow!)
I will be having a growth sono next Tuesday but that is only because I whined and complained that I wanted one My doctor's office really doesn't 'believe' in growth sonos since they aren't always accurate with pinpointing the weight or size of the baby..

Re: Sono & Internals..
I had a growth sono at 32 weeks, but like the other ladies said, not all Dr.s will order them. I had my first internal today and my Dr. actually didn't want to do it- she wanted to wait until next week. I wound up asking her to do it.

right there with you!
I was so glad to move here, get settled and find a practice. I don't look forward to my appts because of their bedside manor. I have only really clicked with one dr there, I hope he is working when I deliver. The 2 others that i have met haven't left a good taste in my mouth.
Alot of the time they will ask me a question, I answer, then they look to DH to validate to make sure I am not lying. Thank God I plan on BF, I was attacked the other day because one of the drs thought she heard me say I wasn't going to try..

Re: Sono & Internals..
I agree.they're a bit wacky out here...lol. I was going to ask you also for a recommendation thinking you may have gotten lucky.... I guess not. I think thats the way it is out here but I am determined to find a better, more private practice after this baby. Our friends moved down with us and she was pregnant and was going there as well... felt the same as I. She gave birth last Thurs. (lucky her) and I have to say she was please with the hosp. and the nurses and she happened to get one of the better Drs. (lucky her again). Other than that... she agrees about what we have been talking about all along.
