Some home projects with picture overload
I never get a chance to post any house pics and i've been working like crazy on the house, So I will post pics of all the projects I've completed or almost completed that I actually have pics of. I've done a lot more but I don't have all of them uploaded yet
I have to thank fins for giving us the free china cabinet and buffet cart. turns out they are thomasville! we haven't gotten around to fixing up the china cabinet but here is the cart, now used in my foyer
Before
Durning-lightly sanding it down
Durning-with primer
After- we bought new knobs from HD and I took the wheels and sides off, but I finished the sides so in case I ever want to use them I can easily slide them on and they match
Then in our family room we removed this ugly wood/coal buring stove and mirrors in the corner which are now removed
Almost done, and i forgot to take a picture of the bricks painted before the TV went up there
In the kitchen everything was so dark. I have dark wood beams, dark trim, dark wood cabinets. It just felt so dark and dreary to me. So I painted then bench seat white and I am in the process of making a seat cushion. We are going to remove the clock and candles that they left for us  as well as the window treatments (they left those too, anyone want them??)

After-coming shortly, not fully done yet
opposite the bench seat are these great built ins that wer custome made. but again to dark for me.
Before
After- we bought new knobs and hinges and painted 3 coats of primmer and 5 coats of paint. It took WEEKS to do and i was ready to give up when the wood continued to show thru. in the end, it was totally worth it, but it was so hard to do! I finished it off with 2 coats of poly clear high gloss so they are washable/scrubable and don't look so flat. I ordered the knobs from myknobs.com and I bought the hinges at HD.
BTW- the holes in the front doors are for the heat to escape. they built them over the radiators. wouldn't have been my first design choice, but I couldn't think of anything else to replace them with, so for now I will leave them like that

Was there a special paint you needed to use for the brick?? I'm planning on painting our brick white as well..was it a a pain to paint???

it wasn't a pain at all, I just used a brush
I bought a primer that was for porus surfaces and put one coat and then one coat of paint, that's it! it was so much easier then the cabinets

I actually like the window treatments ! And I do like that light fixture too, did you just get it? Where from? I am trying to find one similar.
Also you can do radiator grills over the doors. It may be some work, with taking out the door panels but it would change the look up too.

Everything looks great!! Awesome job.
And I agree about the radiator covers for the panels on those doors. Either white or a silver finish depending on your taste.
Your hard work definitely paid off!

darn wish I knew someone would want that thing, we threw it away... but you can have the window treatments! and you know how to get to my house, so whenever you want them let me know, there yours! if nothing else, use the fabric for something. its just not my taste
