I was in band, but I wouldn't consider myself a band geek. My friends where not into school at all, and alot of them picked on the geeks.

I was an amazing clarinetist - lead for every performance. I loved it until my clarinet tutor, who was in his 40's, started hitting on me and making inappropriate comments Chat Icon

Never played again Chat Icon

I was one of 5 girls who did not have "big hair" in HS, I DID NOT listen to KTU or Z100. I loved WDRE, the angle (teen club on Friday nights), Malibu night club and was really into seeing shows in NYC and going to clubs. My favorite bands were: Nine inch nails, they might be giants, U2, The Cure, INXS, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Etc.

I loved going into Manhattan and sneaked out whenever possible to do so.

I started this at age 16, sneaking out with friends (who were 17, 18 and 19) and put my folks through he!!. I dated older guys and was not really into the whole "jock" scene. BUT if someone surfed, skateboarded or snowboarded (or all three) I was SOOOOOOOOO into them. I was a HUGE surf betty and even though I went to Division (in Levittown) I spent most of my time in Long Beach and Lido Beach. I was a sucker for tall, long blond haired, built like a greek god surfers. Haha! Once, when I was a senior my then boyfriend called the assistant principal to say he was my dad ( like in Ferris Buller Chat Icon ) we cut class and went surfing. It was AWESOME! My dad found out and I was grounded, but hey I had a amazing time.

Not sure where I fit in on this thread. Chat Icon Hahaha, same as HS! Chat Icon
I was friends with everyone, but really I loved hanging out with older kids. I was a pretty mature 16 and 17 year old.

ETA: I ended up going to college in Manhattan & I do keep in touch with 3 of my close friends from HS. Chat Icon

Were we separated at birth????? I swear you explained my whole pre-teen/teen existence. I had big hair though, but it was a mohawkChat Icon

Haha! Kindred Spirits Chat Icon
Where did you go to HS?

I was a nerd Chat Icon No band, no choir, just a nerd.

Ditto...but friends with all the band geeks and hung out in the band room with them during 8th period.

I was involved in SING (for your city people who are familiar), and co-wrote it Junior Year. I was also on yearbook. I was well known in school, but not part of the "cool" crowd. I had my own group of smart, kind of quirky friends.

Re: So, who were you?

Other - none of the above. I was geeky because I was in honors & AP classes but not a joiner in any sense of the word.

Unless you count foreign exchange student, but going to Italy without your parents was pretty cool at 16.
