So what is the deal with the HPT?

So when is the absolute first time I can test? I BDed on Day 16 (peak) and 17 (high). Do blood tests give you a quicker result than HPTs? What HPT will give the earliest result and when?

First response Early Pregnancy test. Maybe cd10?

Most doctors will not do a blood test until you have a postive HPT or if you two weeks late. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Blood tests are highly accurate and my doctor offers them 14 days after ovulation. This is around the same time that most ladies would be using a HPT anyway.

Hmmm. What is cd10. What does cd stand for? (sorry, I am new to this). Are the blood tests accurate beforehand or no? Or is just a case of the doctors not wanting to give them?

CD10= Cycle Day 10. CD1 is the first day of your period. So, say you Ovulate on CD14, you can test 10 days later. Although, I always wait until my period is officially late. You can get a positive pregnancy test, as early as 8DPO (8 days past ovulation), but it's not that common. Even taking at test on 10DPO is not 100% garunteed you will get a positive if you are pregnant.

If you got a peak reading on CD15 and 16, then you probably O'd on CD17. Typically AF *should* come 14 days after O, earliest you could test would be CD27
