so much for going early...
I feel like I'll be lucky to go on time. After feeling really crampy and having some contractions yesterday- they all went away. And my Dr's appointment this morning wasn't exactly promising. At 39 weeks I'm only a fingertip dilated and still 50% effaced. I'm so supset right now. Everyone, myself included, has been so convinced that I was going to have this baby early that I feel like I'm late at this point. The Dr. said in the event I go past my due date I will be induced on Oct. 26- 6 days late.

Re: so much for going early...
Awww, Nicole. Just remember anything can happen at a moments notice. I have heard of PLENTY of stories where people were slightly dilated or not at all then two days later are in full blown labor!
I know what you mean about going early. I am convinced that I am going early, but having everyone tell me that I will go early is not helping. Then I feel like if I don't go early, I will be soooo disappointed.
Hang in there. October 26 is a wonderful birthday for your chunky monkey!

Re: so much for going early...
Anything could change at anytime! Why don't you research some old wives tales on how to go early? (sex, spicy foods, etc.)

Re: so much for going early...
Thanks everyone! I'm just really upset. I know that as long as the baby is healthy that should be my only concern, but I can't help but feel desperate to have this whole pregnancy thing over with. The whole spicy food thing is a myth (at least for me) because I eat spicy for all the time and have throughout my entire pregnancy. I'd be glad to give sex a try, but DH is way too freaked out by it ("I don't want to have sex with my son's head.") The whole walking thing doesn't seem to be the trigger (I teach dance 4 days a week.) I just don't know what else to do at this point. I guess all I can do is wait it out, but I'm just so down right now.

Re: so much for going early...
I was reading about natural "induction" methods yesterday and it said that those wives tales only work if you are ready to begin with. So eating spicy foods before you are dilated won't do anything. But, when you do begin to dilate, then they are said to work better.
At least that's what I read in several different places.

Nipple stimulation is supposed to work too. If your DH won't have "relations" tell him to play with your boobs

Hang in there. Your time will be here before you know it. I felt the same way you did. I was dialated at 37 weeks and ended up being 2 days late.

atleast you got it before the postpartum 6 weeks. Here's to hoping your DH enjoyed it and will do it again tonight.
