So I met the surgeon-
He decided to do 7 teeth (instead of 6)
Am I crazy???
He said I should be able to return to work by Tue or Wed- he also suggested I do all at once.
He said my wisdom teeth or growing backwards- so its not gonna be an easy surgery and I will prob have a rough recovery...
Im so scared-
I know Im gonna have pain regardless (whether I do 4 or 7 tomorrow) and Id like to know when its over its over (and I dont have to go back)
Please share your experiences and make me feel better
ETA- TIA for all the advice and for listening to alll my "teeth" moans and groans for the past month or 2

If it were me, I'd do them all iin one shot. I wouldn't want to have to go back again.

Re: So I met the surgeon-
Get it over with in one shot. It will not be any worse getting 7 done than it will getting 4 done -- and getting them all done at once relieves you of any anxiety over having to go in again.
I had a complicated, rough wisdom-teeth extraction and recovery about 5 years ago, and I promise you'll get through it. Lots of milk shakes and mashed potatoes -- and do NOT drink through a straw during recovery. (OUCH! LOL)
Good luck -- You will make it through just fine!!

Re: So I met the surgeon-
It's going to hurt whether it's 4 or 7. However, if you do all 7, it only hurts once. Otherwise, you have to go back and do it all over again.
Stay medicated, do what the surgeon recommends, and before you know it, it will all be a distant memory, and you'll be glad you had it done.

Re: So I met the surgeon-
both DH & I had all 4 wisdom teeth out at the same time.....mine was a bit more complicated as I was having a major problem with one of the teeth, but honestly, it wasn't as bad as I thought, my cheeks were swollen, I had jello, pudding, juice and made sure to ice like they said! I think its better to just get it over with!

Re: So I met the surgeon-
You're smart to do them all in one shot! The top teeth will be a piece of cake! The bottom will probably be a bit more painful because they're set in your jaw. Some people bounce back right away, others do not. You'll be fine!! I bet you'll come back saying it wasn't as bad as you thought

Re: So I met the surgeon-
Doing all at the same time is the best way. You only have to go through the surgery once, and honestly only the pain once. It's not that bad. You go to sleep and wake up and its done. You are numb for about 4-6 hours afterwards and you MUST ice your face for at least 2 days after to keep the swelling down, and it also helps with the pain. Since they are not easy extractions, you will be in pain more than someone who just had a simple pulling done. I had two teeth that were impacted (half out and half in my gums) and that is why I needed to take the prescription meds, MOtrin would not cut it for me. You need to relax and rest too. Let DH do it all. I normally would try to help out, but this time all I did was lay in bed, watch tv, go on LIF, and sleep. Go to the grocery store and pick up pudding, jello, ice cream... anything that is soft and not hot, and you can not drink through a straw either.
Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!!!

i had all four wisdom teeth taken out at the same time. that was what was recommended by the oral surgeon ... and i think it was better to get it over with than to do it one or two at a time.

Re: So I met the surgeon-
I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled (they were impacted) at once. It is definitely the better way to go. I was in so much pain beforehand. I had a really quick recovery (I went away on vacation just a few days after the surgery).

What did you do to ice your face- just lay ziplock bags of ice across your face?
How was being put out- this scared me a bit too!

Not only is he amazingly HOT! But his chair side manner was amazing. I was SOOO nervous too and he eased my mind. His staff is also so nice and super professional. I couldn’t have asked for better people to take care of me. I had a non complicated extraction (a wisdom tooth and a molar – both on top) that I was awake for. It was nowhere near as bad as I thought and my recovery was ridicoulsly easy. I know yours is more complicated but rest assured he is an awesome surgeon and came highly recommended and I can see why. My friend used him for a VERY complicated procedure and had nothing but good things to say about the care. He even called at home that night to make sure I was ok. Needless to say I couldn’t wait for the one week recheck- because I wanted to see him again!
Bottom line- you are in great hands and you will be fine....

Re: So I met the surgeon-
I totally understand how you are feeling right now! I have had my wisdom teeth removed, along with a major mouth/jaw surgery and it can be very scary when you don't know what to expect. My only advise is to get it all done and over with in 1 shot. There will be pain, but there will also be pain medication Good luck. You will be SOOO relieved when it's all over with.

Re: So I met the surgeon-
ugh i'm so sorry! seven!
but def get it over with in one shot...
my OS told me that if i had decided to do two WT and then wait to have the other two removed - that he'd probably never see me again!

Re: So I met the surgeon-
I did 6, and got it done in one shot. I ended up with only 1 dry socket (on the impacted wisdom tooth I had) and felt pretty functional after a long weekend.
definitely do it in one shot. The recovery is annoying.... with the food restrictions and the swelling. IMO, it was much better to endure that only once.
feel better!!!

Re: So I met the surgeon-
definitely do them all in one shot! i had 10 teeth pulled when i was about 9 years old. my mouth is very small, and before they put braces on me, they needed to make room for all of the teeth to move around and stuff. they put me under and i jsut remember waking up. i don't remember being in all that much pain afterwards... i just remember eating soft foods for a few days and missing a few days of school... it was definitely worth just getting it overwith! good luck!!

just make sure they prescribe you antibiotics for after the surgery............. food gets trapped in the incision areas and then infected...........if they prescribed it for me that time, it would not of become infected. It was soooooo painful.....i could barely open my mouth it was that inflamed!
