So I finally get DH to talk to the baby...
... and the first thing he says to it is:
"Football is good."

Re: So I finally get DH to talk to the baby...
Boy or girl, I am doomed with this football thing. DH has already decided which sports this child will participate in and in which seasons.
Soccer in the fall Basketball in the winter Softball in the spring
Since the child will more than likely be in camp in the summer, he assumes that it will play all sports. Im nixing that one. I want my kids in hockey camp - boy or girl.

Believe it or not, but DH actually got DD to sit and watch football all last season.
And you know the game, "SO big!"- he plays that with her but he says, "Touchdown!" and she raises her hands over her head.
She also has enough Browns jerseys/onesies to cover her for the next 3 years.

Re: So I finally get DH to talk to the baby...
DH has been giving me jabs here and there with the football comments. The baby is due just before Labor Day which is the weekend that he and his friends travel from all ends of the country to a location for their Fantasy Football draft. A few weekends later, the league in which he plays for starts up too.
He has resigned to the fact that he is NOT going to his draft though I have visions of him text messaging his draft picks from the delivery room.
He told me he would not play football (though I never asked him to stop) until October. He is part of a team and I am sure I can have plenty of support from family should he choose to play. All I asked him to do was to come home after the game instead of going back to the bar, getting drunk and coming home smelling like MAN. That, should be interesting.
He did make this grand proclamation that "Our child will not watch television until it's 2 years old." My reaction was: " " and then I asked "What about football games?" According to DH, football games do not count as TV watching.

During labor when the baby is crowning you totally have to tell "go deep!"

Liza, I can't even begin to tell you that DH is secretly hoping for a c-section, so he can learn and repeat the alien scene from SPACEBALLS.

Re: So I finally get DH to talk to the baby...
Oh dear he gets even better.
Im reading him the stats on the baby as they stand right now - that my uterus is the size of a cantelope. Mr. Sensitivity says:
"As long as the canteloupe isn't from Honduras as they had a recent recall."
Apparently some fruit from a farm in Honduras had canteloupe with salmonella.
Between the football and the fruit, I really married a gem.

that he knows about canteloupe recalls in honduras.. that's hilarious!!
my dd's father is a football fanatic also.. my 7yr old daughter roots for yale (his alma mata and he played football for them and the steelers.). she thinks the superbowl is the best television event of the year and will cry if she can't watch it.. when she was 3 she came home from his house and screamed at the television.. defense dammit defense..

Re: So I finally get DH to talk to the baby...
this sounds all too familiar!! We are having a baby girl, and my DH bought the baby her "first seminoles tee" from the boy section. He says when college football starts she will be sitting right with him in a football shirt. My DH is a sports fanatic, football, soccer, basketball, baseball.. you name it, he watches it and is obsessed... I feel your pain!!!
