I'm not asking anyone to tell me if my party was or was not reserved - clearly people have different interpretations. What I AM actually asking is if I should try to have the party there or somewhere else.
Id be furious! What times do they have available on the day you wanted?
10am or 6pm - some people are coming from pretty far into Nassau and I know family members have morning committments so both those times seem crappy. I can do 2pm on Sunday which I am leaning towards.

Thanks - I am waiting to hear back from one other place that is right in my town to see what they have available. Otherwise I will do the Sunday at 2.

So angry!! WWYD?
I would be furious at them for not admitting it's their fault, but since it's so last minute I would just have the party there. Sunday at 2pm sounds like a good time. And FWIW whenever I have booked parties at a place they always ask for a card to hold the date.

If someone said to come down with a deposit, and I did not ever give the deposit, I wouldn't expect them to hold the date/time for me.
I don't think its their responsibility to make sure their customers pay for their reservations. I would think it would be my responsibility as the booker.
I agree with this.
I would still try to have my party there because it was my fault, not theirs. I don't see a problem with a 10am party on a Saturday, I'd rather get a party out of the way and have the rest of the day to do whatever I wanted.

It's actually not their fault. The OP was told to go down to the place and give a deposit and she didn't. However, doesn't mean the place couldn't have been apologetic and more understanding. FWIW, I just booked a party at a gymnastics place and was also told I had to bring a cash deposit within a week of booking the party. I was a bit shocked that they wouldn't take a cc, but apparently that's how some places do their business!
To answer the OP, if you have a really bad taste in your mouth about this place, then book elsewhere. Unless your DS is dead set on this place, then I'd suggest just dealing with it and taking the 2pm Sunday date.

I would have it elsewhere unless your son insists on having it there, in which case I'd do it at 10am on Saturday. I hate doing things on Sunday afternoons.

Re: So angry!! WWYD?
I owned a party place and we had many people fill out contracts with no deposit, and even thou we made it clear we would hold the date for no more than 24 hours (because we got burned a LOT), I would still call someone that had booked a party with no deposit if someone else was looking to book that spot. I think they messed up and I think that the guy was really rude about it, but I would still probably have the party there if that's where you wanted it.

Luckily there is a new play place in my town and the owner was so nice and had the same time/date available so I booked it there instead. I understand it was my fault for not leaving the deposit sooner however the woman at WK was not clear on what their policy was and made it sound like my party was penciled in and I assumed they would have called sooner if there was an issue.

Sounds like a misunderstanding on both parts. It happens.
Glad you found something else that works for you.

Exactly. I don't think any place would hold a date without a deposit. Sorry this happened and there was miscommunication.
