Sleep experts I need some advice with a 20m old...
DS is a wonderful sleeper, seldom do we have issues.
His nap is 12-3, but lately, he spends almost an hour singing/talking/playing, then falls asleep 1 hour, cries for me, needs to be comforted, then sleeps 2 hours.
So he's getting 3 hours of sleep, just wasting 4 hours and I'm not sure if I can help him by putting him down earlier? or later?
He sleeps 8-7/8 ...

first thing that came to mind was possible teething?
you can try to make him wait until 1 and then take a 1-4 pm nap..

Re: Sleep experts I need some advice with a 20m old...
He might be ready for a 2 hour nap, not a 3. My DD stopped 3 hour naps around that time. They also go through a lot of phases where fears come into play, alot of which have to do with sleep. Be patient, and just realize that it isn't forever. Don't fight to have hom nap at a certain time or for a certain amount of time if it isn't happening. You will be much happier when you do! I just recently accepted that my DD is just about done with napping -- 32 months. I fought it for a while and got very stressed about it, but i have made peace with it and just try to get her to take little naps wherever -- in the car, on my bed while watching a movie, or not at all.

I would try putting him down later. My son is a decent napper, but we have had to adjust the start times of his nap since he has gotten older.

Re: Sleep experts I need some advice with a 20m old...
Since DS was about 21 months old this has been his nap routine.
Lunch at 11:30am. I put him in his crib at 12pm with white noise, an episode of Sesame Street with a 60 min sleep timer on the t.v. DS watches the episode and plays in his crib. Btw. 1-1:15pm he eventually lays down and sleeping unitl 2:40-3pm b/c I wake him for ABA therapy. On the weekends he will give us until 3:30 sometimes.
ETA: we have a similar routine at bedtime. Dinner, bath, crib for elmo and eventually sleep. He is in his crib about 7-7:15pm, falls asleep btw. 7:45-8:30pm. He wakes up about 7:30-8am.
