JMO... but I 100% think that everyone should have an HSG when they start TTC...

I have had 2, I had 1 in which my tubes were 100% blocked, they didn't even show up, and I had no pain... if that is what you are worried about.

I had to have surgery regarding some fibroid tumors in which I had, then I had the 2nd HSG... and YEAH... they are all clear. The 2nd HSG was a little bit "uncomfortable" but it is definatly worth the slight pain to know that I wasn't wasting time TTC if my tubes were still blocked.
