I am a strong believer in everything happens for a reason...I think God thinks you will be a wonderful, loving and caring mother and even though your baby will have downs I know he thinks you are strong enough to face that challenge.. It is your choice and your choice alone I will pray for you whatever you decide

this is a decision that no one should have to face but like others have said, no one can make it except you and DH. take a few days, reflect on it. i hope you are at peace with what ever you decide.

I know you will make the right decision based on what is right for you and dh, I agree with the pp and going on the board for children with special needs, and talk with those mom's. my mom always said God does not give you more than you can handle, and he chooses special people to parent special needs children. please think this through based only on what you and your dh feel you can handle in this this situation, please do not let anyone make this choice for you or pressure you. remember what ever decision you choose is the one best for you and your family. Im so sorry for what you are going through...
My eldest daughter has Down Syndrome. Having lost a set of twins the year before she was born I can honestly say that I have almost been in the same position you are in at this very moment....

First, I am so sorry to hear you are going through this, and for the second time. Secondly, you are NOT selfish. This is a very tough decision for anyone and raising a child with Downs is much more committal than raising normal, healthy baby. It is so easy for someone else to say they would keep the baby regardless, but they are not in the situation. There are many things to consider. It's so sad that this even has to happen to anyone.
Again, I'm so sorry. Please don't feel that you are doing anything wrong with whatever decision you make.

No one can tell you want to do, you have to make the decision that is right for you and your family. I can only tell you that I have had the opportunity to work closely with a downs child last semester and he was a loving and happy person. As expected he did have cognitive impairment and was very impulsive, however, he was also eager to learn and always applied himself. He was one of my favorite students.
My best advise to you is to get in touch with your local support group. Talk to some of the parents and maybe meet some of the children. Only then can you make an informed decision.
