Settle a dispute: Bathing and Peeing

I went to give DD a bath today and while I am putting her in the tub as soon as her feet hit the water she starts to pee Chat Icon

Would you:

A: Take DC out, empty the bathtub, wash it down, and then refill it?

or

B: Just stick DC in the tub anyway because DC probably pees in it everytime you give he/she a bath and you normally just don't see it?

I always take DS out and rinse it b/c we have boats and duckies that we play with while he is in the bath and he is constanlty putting things in his mouth so i wouldnt want him to drink it.

I empty and clean it quick. My cousin doesn't since "pee is sterile"

I don't stop and change the water - we finish up and when he's done I scrub the tub and his toys.

I cringe more over the garbage he picks up on the street and tries to put in his mouth than the diluted pee. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Who ever thought we'd have this conversation Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Settle a dispute: Bathing and Peeing

I take DC out of the tub and stick him directly in my sink to bathe him. (the tub is usually on the floor of the bathroom). It's a little more awkward in my sink bc my sink is really small but it saves the hassle of taking DS out, putting him somewhere, rinsing tub, etc.

That being said, I'm sure there have been plenty of times that DS has peed in the tub and I didn't see it and I continued with his bath.

I never drain it. Pee is sterile and I rinse him and clean him again after the water is drained anyway. To refill it is a waste of water IMO.

DS pees in his bath all the time.

I would not change it if he already in the water.

I don't change the water, the amount of pee vs the amount of water is miniscule and its pretty much diluted to nothing.

I agree that A is a total waste of water....what harm could a little diluted pee have....

Re: Settle a dispute: Bathing and Peeing

I will take DS out & let the water drain, the reason being is that DS is obsessed lately with drinking the bath water Chat Icon I know gross.

He has these 3 cups he plays with and he recently figuted out that he can fillt hem and drink from them!

If I knew she peed I would probably have to dump and start over. I am sure there are many times she peed and we had no idea though, so far she's survived.
