Do you think its ok for both of you to get up to go the bathroom, or should one person remain at the table at all times until you are leaving the restaurant?

I always wait b/c I don't want the waiter to think we either left, or for them to take our food/drinks.

Re: Settle a debate between my and hubby.

I always wait for the other one to come back before I go.

I don't want to have to take my stuff with me when I go - so if DH stays my jacket & purse can sit there.

Besides I know it might be silly, but I wouldn't want the waiter to think we're both skipping out on the bill or something by leaving the table at the same time. Chat Icon

My husband gets up all the time right after I do. It drives me crazy. He thinks I'm being silly because why would he want to sit alone at the table and then go when I'm back. Guess I'm not the only one who thinks its weird for the table to be left empty. Chat Icon

We always go one at a time. The only time we go together is after we paid for the meal, on the way out.

It never occurred to me to both go at the same time since your table is empty & may be cleared - but I do see his point Chat Icon

same here.

Not that I like sitting at the table alone, but I think it's more weird for both you to leave the table.

We always take turns.

I never really thought about it, but we just do.

Also, if we go to a buffet, one of us always stays, our parents are the same way.

Agreed same here. I always felt wierd about doing that. Plus, if it is a debate, hubby always lets me "go potty" first! Chat Icon

Coming from a server's point of view, there were a few times when I waited tables that I thought they skipped out on me when the table was empty. So we go one at a time.

Re: Settle a debate between my and hubby.

Some one always stays at the table-when I am with DH or someone else. I wouldn't want them to think we've dined and dashed.
