This article makes me sick.
I was 5'4, 115 lbs and was on bedrest from 22 weeks on. The boys were delivered at 37 weeks. Was it difficult? Yes. I was in and out of the ER constantly. Is taking care of them the hardest thing I have ever done? Yes. But I would never have implanted two if I knew I couldn't handle twins.
This article breaks my heart.
Exactly this!!! My story is quite similar. IVF led to a twin pregnancy, bed rest at 13 weeks, countless drugs and injections to stop labor, hospitalized at 24 weeks and stayed their till boys were born at 31 weeks 6 days. It was HELL but I wouldn't have it any other way. I honestly can't even finish reading the article. I understand selective reduction for higher order multiples when a womans life is a risk but the decision to reduce twins is just selfish. Like many of you, it makes me sick.

Re: Selective Reduction Article
This article makes me so sad. To think about how much it takes to get pregnant when dealing with IF, it makes me upset someone would terminate a pregnancy when their health/the child's was not in danger.
My DH said he saw it the other day and could not even finish reading the first page.
ITA with these posts:
...I know that I couldn't do selective reduction, especially with just twins. I wouldn't put back more than one, if I knew I couldn't handle two. And the justification that this is already such an artificial process is borderline offensive
Especially the way the procedure is done. It just seems inhumane. I really don't know how you could live with yourself reducing a twin pregnancy, no matter what your current situation.

i dont understand why people would reduce a healthy fetus when the mom's health/safety was not at stake
Because it is their constitutional right, While you might not agree it is still their right.
so what if it is their right? that doesn't answer my question.
i dont understand why someone would do that to a healthy baby.

So just because they can they should?
Sorry, not buying it.
The article disgusts me and made me sad for humanity

Um, no, it's not a constitonal right. It's legal. It has nothing to do with the constitution.
