Nightmare on Elm Street
I know it's stupid....but I have such an irrational fear of Freddy that I can't even look at him.
I was on a haunted hay ride once and characters started coming out of the woods....Freddy came out and I literally blacked out and was pushing people out of the way because I thought he was coming for me.
The idea of not being able to sleep really really terrifies me, apparently!

I saw that in the 7th grade for the first time and it scared the crap out of me!!!!

That being said - one very disturbing movie that is not very well known is called The Hunger and it is one of my favorites. While there is some gore in it, it is not gratuitous as much as it is part of the movie, and the story is really good. It is Saw but with a much better plot and story line - more psychological. I highly recommend it!

Do you mean Hunger? With the experiment in the well? If so - agreed. I randomly caught it on cable one night. A true mind f*ck.

i am a giant baby and still can't even watch childs play, but the scariest movie I've seen recently was paranormal activity. the first one. saw it in the theater on halloween in the city and just everything about the night freaked me out. the theater was dark and dingy, the people in front of us were drunk and fighting and got kicked out, then when we walked back to my car there was a dead pigeon right next to my front wheel. i spent half the movie clawing my own face and closing my eyes, and still when i think of it when I'm alone at night i get scared

This is my scariest movie too but I have to admit I really don't want many horror movies because I'm a huge baby.

The night we came home from watching it I was really on edge and DH and I were alone at our house. We were sitting together in silence looking at something on the computer when all the sudden there was this huge crashing noise from the next room. I think I literally almost had a heart attack, I've never been so scared. We went to investigate and the very top shelf in our closet had somehow come loose and all the boxes stacked on it had come crashing down.

We hadn't been moving things around on that shelf so I don't know what made it fall, I guess it was just a huge coincidence. I couldn't sleep for weeks. DH tried to act like it didn't phase him but he even had to admit that the timing was pretty weird.

Scariest movie you've ever seen

I love horror films and have been watching them with my mom since I was in early elementary school. I think the only one that really scared me was Exorcist. I still to this day don't think I have made it through the entire thing.

I LOVE scary movies. I mean, LOVE. But the one that I just cannot watch is The Omen (the original 1976 one).

I love them too!
I don't think I have ever been scared by one in my life but the Exorcist definitely gave me chills.
