Re: Scariest movie you've ever seen
i am a giant baby and still can't even watch childs play, but the scariest movie I've seen recently was paranormal activity. the first one. saw it in the theater on halloween in the city and just everything about the night freaked me out. the theater was dark and dingy, the people in front of us were drunk and fighting and got kicked out, then when we walked back to my car there was a dead pigeon right next to my front wheel. i spent half the movie clawing my own face and closing my eyes, and still when i think of it when I'm alone at night i get scared

Thr Fourth Kind...it scared me to the point of not being able to get decent sleep do a couple of weeks and I would cry on and off about it. It literally is my worst nightmare.
You & I share the same intense fear of aliens , that's no secret. I give you MAJOR kudos for watching that movie. I can't even look at the image for the movie without getting anxiety. Same thing happens with Fire In The Sky. LOL
With that said, Communion or Fire In The Sky are the scariest movies I've ever seen.
HAHA thanks...it was one of those things where I was like "let me see how bad this is...." and I had immediate regret. I sweated through my shirt!
Fire in the Sky is another one that would make me shit my drawers!

It. For some asinine reason, when I was in Day Camp, the counselors showed it to us on a rainy day. We were in 7th grade. I still haven't recovered.

Re: Scariest movie you've ever seen
I love the classics, and I have never been more terrified then I was when I first saw The Exorcist. When they remastered it and released in the theater my BF at the time and I went to see it. During a really intense scene my BF hunched over on me and started to have a violent seizure in the movie theater. That had never happened to him a day in his life. I got up screaming and everyone freaked out. All the sudden he snapped out of it and was fine. Scared the crap out of me on multiple levels. It happened again while we were watching Stigmata. After that I told him we were never watching a possession movie together again

The trailer for that new movie "Annabelle" is scaring the crap out of me! It's the doll, I hate those kids of dolls with their eyes following you all around the room.
No thank you!

Changeling...seriously couldn't sleep for a week. My son was only a little younger than Angelina Jolie's son in the movie and the fact it was based on a true story ..freaked me out.

The Exorcist scared me so much as a kid (5th grade) that I really don't watch horror movies anymore. I was seriously traumatized.

The original Texas Chainsaw massacre scared me the most and the first Saw movie. Hostel is right up there too. Mostly because I absolutely believe there are sickos out there that can pull something like that off. Lol
ITA with these for the same reason!
Glad I'm not alone!

Re: Scariest movie you've ever seen
I LOVE scary movies and will watch them all. I find the pure slasher/torture type ones are less scary and just more gross. They generally don't do much for me.
I think the scariest movies are the ones where it's something that can likely happen in real life. Things like kidnappings, home invasions, etc.
That being said, the remake of "Last House on the Left" was so thrilling and so scary that it freaked me out. It's something that could easily happen in real life. The remake of "A Stranger is Calling" was also very good. I LOVE "Paranormal Activity", just the first one. It was genuinely creepy and had me on the edge of my seat. "The Descent" (the first one) was really, really good. Being a severely claustrophobic person that one totally had me freaking out. A recent horror that I enjoyed was "You're Next". It was a cool movie.
A classic, really good horror movie is "The Entity" with Barbara Hershey. Very creepy. "Poltergeist", to me, is always a classic, awesome horror movie. I always found "The Birds" to be pretty creepy, but birds in general creep me out a little.
There are SO many good thriller/horror movies............I could go on forever!!

Re: Scariest movie you've ever seen
The Conjuring scared me so much that I had panic attacks in the middle of the night for MONTHS after watching it.
Paranormal Activity I started to watch and got only about a half hour into it and had to turn it off.

Re: Scariest movie you've ever seen
High Tension - that movie literally had me sitting on the edge of my seat when we first saw it and we are huge horror buffs. we have seen everything. That one though... whoa.
I do not equate gore with horror - I feel they are 2 seperate genres and do not enjoy torture porn or gore for the sake of gore, so while we have seen all the Saws and Hostels - I do not find them scary. I find them disgusting and gratuitous.
That being said - one very disturbing movie that is not very well known is called The Hunger and it is one of my favorites. While there is some gore in it, it is not gratuitous as much as it is part of the movie, and the story is really good. It is Saw but with a much better plot and story line - more psychological. I highly recommend it!
I also love the Last Exorcism - great GREAT movie.
Also - not exactly the scariest, but a must see for horror buffs is Cabin in the woods. It pays homage to every horror movie out there!!!

Re: Scariest movie you've ever seen
Nightmare on Elm Street I know it's stupid....but I have such an irrational fear of Freddy that I can't even look at him. I was on a haunted hay ride once and characters started coming out of the woods....Freddy came out and I literally blacked out and was pushing people out of the way because I thought he was coming for me. The idea of not being able to sleep really really terrifies me, apparently!
