Scared about sono pic
So I had my 12 week sono today and the baby looks like it has a huge nose and enormous lips. Tell me I am just being crazy ad that a 12 week sono pic is no indication of what my baby will look like. The baby also wouldn't stay still, so maybe the images got stretched? All I can think about now is that I am going to have an ugly baby! Help!

well yes, of course - I guess it didn't come out exactly right....I have just been nervous about this entire pregnancy and this just gives me one more thing to worry about

I think what you are feeling is normal, you are worried about everything being "normal" and ok. Many babies look like aliens in the sonograms, so I think it's normal to find them odd looking.

The "If they made it babies"...yeah, they are quite the sight!
That's partly why I won't get a 3d sono. Generally I think they aren't the most flattering pics and I would not want added worry before delivery. For ex, my friend told me that one of her sonos her DD looked like an old lady, the face looked very odd. Even when the baby came out, she kept asking her DH "How is her face? What is her face like? (she really thought something odd was going to be wrong, not ugly but something abnormal). Her DD is a perfectly normal looking cute girl. So try not to worry, clearly sono pics can make babies look abnormally odd!!

Oh lordy you cant tell by the 12 week sono...or any sono for that matter!!!
DS had the hugest lips on my 3D sonograms..I mean huge huge lips...now while it's true that he does have fairly full lips it's nothing like it was on that sonogram.
And hey a nice big nose is a good thing on the ultrascreen...kids with DS have a small nasal bridge.

If my baby looks anything like my 12 week sono I am in TROUBLE.
It's was an alien!!!! Big huge head, which made up 1/2 of its body, eyes on the side of it's head too-- and little stumps for arms and legs. But, that's what the baby is supposed to look like at that stage.
To learn more, you should read the week by week things on BabyCenter-- it explains what the baby looks like each week, and how it's developing, etc.

your baby is 3 dimensional.
sonograms are 2 dimensional.
the way the sonograms show the baby is nothing like they look.
this is not something you should be worried or concerned about at 12 weeks

I think everyone is making too much of this. I am sure that op is concerned for her baby's health first and foremost.
Yes, babies look weird in sonos- features look out of balance.

lol
my  sono, the first thing my mother said was "omg jaim, i think shes gonna have a huge nose" and i almost wacked her...obviously you couldnt tell yet my mother just tends to be slightly dramatic..
No one exactly WANTS their kid to be made fun of...kids go through enough on their own.

Yeah - some of the sono pics are scary.
I found that the sono pics "resembled" my baby if I looked at him at 3am in the light of the TV.

My 12 week sono you could see lips and nose for sure.
See Pickles16's caption under her chat icon. It says "baby LIPS coming in Dec." Apparently the baby had large lips in her 12 week sono.

My babys lips looked HUGE on my last sono pic, when he was born his lips looked perfect!! Don't worry, there is a lot of shadowing on those pics!

I agree with the other posters... I wouldn't be so serious about this post! I don't find it disturbing at all.
DH and I were squinting at our growth sono trying to figure out if Scone takes after me or him with his nose, eyes, cheeks... obviously, an exercise in futility!
But all parents are curious what their baby's face and personality will be like... we just want to envision the future with a bit more clarity.... so we squint at sono's and try to inflect personality into the kicks and movements we feel.... it's human nature
