SAHM's.. question..

what do you do when you yourself gets sick?

i am getting a bad cold and i am so afraid that i am going to get the boys sick.
i have nobody else to watch them.. and my DH has to work.

i need advice

I'm not a SAHM, but when I get sick around Mason still doesn't stop you from being a mom. Ugh! It's bad, but you'll get through it

Keep washing your hands and wiping things down you've touched. I usually wipe down Mason's toys more when someone is sick in the house.

Try not to handle them as much and if you have to put on some shows for them to keep them entertained so you can also take care of yourself.

Take lots of vits and drink lots of juice

I usually just muddle through. I had a sinus infection a few weeks ago and was miserable. Poor DS sat in front of the TV for the best part of a week. There's been one time in the past year where I was throwing up and achy, shaky, couldn't keep my eyes opened and my DH worked from home that day. If it was prolonged I would've asked my MIL to watch him.

But, then again, I didn't have twins. Do you have family that can come help you out? I know it's hard, but if you can get someone, you should and REALLY take advantage - ie, turn off the baby monitor, and get some proper rest. Try to forget the fact that your babies are in the house. If not, I'd see if DH could at least take a day off or work from home to give you one good day's rest - it might do you really good. If nothing else, I'd get a babysitter for a day.

i deal with it. a few times my DH stayed home from work once was when i had a really bad stomach virus or when he sees i really cant function. otherwise fever, flu or whatever the case may be i am still a mom.

Suck it up Seriously though, I don't have anyone to watch DS so when I get sick (which is very rare so I guess I'm lucky) I just have to do the best I can. Try not to sneeze or cough on them, wash my hands often and that's it.

Yeah it stinks. I've had a handful ofcolds since DS was born, he's never "caught" anything from me, if that helps!! I just wash my hands alllll the time, and leave little purell bottles everywhere and use them as often as possible. Rest and fluids are the ONLY things that help me, so don't feel guilty if you're not as active with the boys for a few days!!!
I also submit a sick day request to the HR department but they never seem to get back to me

It is the WORST. My DD got this cold on friday and I got it on sunday, so I had to take care of her sickness while being sick myself.

Wash hands a lot, run air purifier if you have one, take a shower a couple of times a day, the hot water and steam will make you feel better.
As for your DC, I would put them in their activity gyms, bouncers, playpens etc and let them entertain each other. Sleep when they sleep, use the tv if you need to. Once your in the moment, you just get through. Feel better!!!!

I don't kiss her and try not to breathe on her. This may sound a little crazy, but if you're really worried you can wear a face mask when you are feeding them to make sure you don't breathe any germs on them.

It is the worst. I agree with the p that said suck it up. Sometimes I can get my MIL to take him or ask DH to do more work from home that day.

i wish i had someone to come over and help me... we have nobody though.

i will have to just suck it up today.. i think its more of me not wanting to get them sick more than anything else.

maybe i can get DH to stay home tomororw.. then the weekend will be here

i definitely will suck it up.. they are in their swing and activity mats now.. hopefully they will be okay and happy .
i am trying not to hold them as much. i don't need them both being sick from me!

and to top it off.. we are having construction done on our house.. the banging is insane!! AHHHHHHh

I had the flu when Katie was only 8 months old. DH had just started a new job and had to go to work. It was horrible.
I had a shirt that I wore when laying on the "sick couch" , while she was in the jumperoo, exersaucer, or napping. When I needed to touch her I put on a different shirt after I thoroughly washed my hands.
When feeding her a bottle, I didn't hold her. I put her in the infant carrier and faced her away from me and literally just held the bottle.
I just washed my hands, all the time and constantly wiped down everything I would touch with the lysol wipes.

I remember it being awful b/c DH was gone from 7am - 7pm and I just couldnt function. It was so tough. But all that work paid off b/c she didn't get the flu! The Dr was shocked when I told him at one of her check ups.

I don't talk to them in their face or kiss them on their mouth like I usually do. I hate it.

I wash my hands as often as I can but that's a given.

It really sucks...When she was very young I would wear a mask...yes I was nuts and was beyond anal, but I did what I had to do

Its THE WORST. I had an AWFUL AWFUL cold about 2 months ago and i wanted to DIE. I had to wait til DH got home around 5.

Ughhh it sucks! I hope you feel better soon! I am thankful that I can usually get some help from my mother, a sister or DH. When they aren't available I just have to suck it up. So far, I haven't had to worry about getting DS sick, he has been the one to get me sick!

I got some nasty colds when DS was only 2-4 months old. I would wash my hands constantly especially after blowing my nose. I tried to not breathe directly on him & try to keep our face to face interaction down. It worked bc DS never got sick

It stinks but SAHM's don't really get sick days. I just suck it up and do the best I can most of the time. Lots of hand washing is the best you can do.

Wash you hands, get the lysol wipes out and clean everything down, doorknobs etc. And, the worst, no kissing the boys. It will be hard, but you don't want them catching the germs.
