S/O to the BF vs FF thread... in an ideal world....

We'd carry the babies and DHs would feed them Chat Icon This would've been a way better evolutionary option, methinks.

Would your husband BF?? Would he stick it out through sore nips, mastitis, leaking, pumping, fatigue, and "wanting his body back"?
Would he cry if he couldn't BF? Chat Icon

Mine would definitively NOT Chat Icon

I can honestly say that if it were an option I believe my DH would. He is very supportive of breastfeeding and feels that it was best for our children. He never blinked an eye at all the money we shelled out on pumps and lactation consultant visits. So I feel pretty safe saying he would tough it out and do it.

I agree with you 110%Chat Icon

My DH put pressure on me to BF, not for the health of our babies, but to save $$$ (he admitted as much). Mind you, we are not in a position where buying formula is going to be a financial issue for us. He is just very thrifty.

I have really bad allergies and suffered without my nasal spray/Sudafed for 9 months for both pregnancies (and while TTC). So excuse me for wanting relief after I gave birth. Cannot take those while BFIng.

My milk supply was a joke and had to pump, etc to get anything decent. This while recovering from labor and c-sections for each baby. I went to FF after nursing for month with each baby.

My DH? Worst diet imaginable, drinks a pot of coffee a day, still SMOKES a pack a day, and is very irritable when he cannot do any of those things. Would he last the 9 months giving up those vices??? Highly unlikely. But if he did, would he continue to give them up to BF??? Heeeeeeelll no.

So I wasn't about to put myself through the wringer to save a few bucks!!! I told him that and he understoodChat Icon

My DH would try to BF I think... he encouraged me to do it with DD.

But if he had trouble he'd definitely stop without any guilt. He kept asking me to stop DS because it was making me crazy. Chat Icon

I change my answer...I think DH would because he's so cheap, the power to save money would overcome any pain or frustration

Wow my poor baby would probably starve. DH hates the way formula smells so he wouldn't want to give it to her and he would be be crying in a corner over BF.

Same here. When we felt DS wasn't getting enough, I was totally on the fence about stopping, but he kept saying I was making myself miserable and it would be best for us all if I stopped. It was much harder for me to let go than it was for him.

Re: S/O to the BF vs FF thread... in an ideal world....

Not a chance.

Dh would not give up his beer, coffee etc. He would not entertain the sometimes all night feeding sessions, he would not like something pinching or biting him, he would not like being the only one who could feed the kids, frankly it would kill him so it would be FF all the way if it were up to DH to BF the kids.

Re: S/O to the BF vs FF thread... in an ideal world....

DH won't let me anywhere near his nipples bc "they're too sensitive" (sorry for the TMI) so I'm going to say BF would be a big fat no. I won't even get into the fact that he can hardly handle getting a papercut without gagging and feeling faint so Lord knows how he'd cope with a milk blister/clogged duct Chat Icon

HELLS NO, my DH is useless when DS vomits a little and just violently gags like a dainty little girl, forget it if he had to BF.
