?'s and opinions needed

Hi Ladies - I'm not really sure where to post this, but figured I'd ask the experts

Long story short, we've decided to jump right in and go straight to an RE.

Xpost from TTC

Ladies, please recommend your doctors. Ideally, we'd love one who takes our insurance (Empire Plan). Any tips, suggestions, etc.? This is all so overwhelming.

Re: ?'s and opinions needed

I see Dr. Stelling at RSofNY and I'm very happy with the practice.

RSofNY

They have offices in Nassau, Suffolk and Brooklyn.

I know it's all very overwhelming and scary at first but I promise you, once you go in a few times and spend a little time on this board, you will learn what everything means and that makes it easier.

Right now I'm moving from IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) to IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) so I'm right there in the scared, overwhelmed state. But I remember starting the IUIs and thinking I'd never get it and obviously I did.

The ladies on this board are FANTASTIC. I have gotten so much support here over the last 2+ years of my IF journey & the past 1+ year being with my RE. They are full of knowledge, good shoulder to cry on so to speak and when nobody in your "real life" understands what it is you are going through, you can always turn to this board for comfort.

We are planning a get together for Oct. 10th in Farmingdale and you are more than welcome to come and meet some of us Chat Icon You can see it isn't as scary as you think and we're all proof you can still live life while going through one of the toughest of life's obstacles.

Long Island IVF is a popular one on this board, Dr. Brenner in particular.

Great monitoring hours, great success rates, good doctors and almost all of the nurses are great. I have my DS thanks to Dr Brenner and just found out I'm expecting number two.

With Empire, for full coverage, you will need to go to a center of excellence. I know RSNY and LIIVF are 2 of them that Empire covers.

Best of luck! I hope your stay here is short.

Thank you both for the welcome and good wishes ... and for the information on Empire! It looks like I will be doing a lot of online research and scheduling appointments this weekend.

Consider consulting at both to see which office fits better with your needs. Many people will recommend their office because they were successful there and vice versa. You have to be comfy with your RE and the practice. Good luck!!!

Empire, I think you need preapproval before theyvcover any tests or procedures for IVF. But they will be able to tell you that when you meet with them.

We used RMA NY and I was more than happy with them. But we were living and working in the city so it was convenient for us.

If I were you, I'd make a consult at whichever RE could see you first. Might as well get your testing done ASAP!

Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think it depends on whether or not you want a small or a big practice... for me I would not recommend the place I went to if you don't want a "factory feel" (currently looking to switch). Good luck!
