Music Together Opinions Needed - Babies Only or Mixed Ages?

I'm trying to get some stuff scheduled for DS and I - I'm already going a little out of my mind being home for the past three weeks.

Anyway, for anyone who does / has done Music Together classes, would you recommend the Mixed Age class or the Babies Only class? (DS will be 2 mos when it starts, about 5 mos when it ends.)

Go to the babies only -- the toddlers will overwhelm you and you'll have more in common with the other moms there if you are looking to make friends.

I started DD in the mixed age group at 3 months and she loved it. I saw no harm in being there with the toddlers. In fact, she would watch them and try to immitate what they were doing. She's 9 months now and it's amazing to see her interact with all ages.

I think it's personal preference.

We go to baby's only...it's through CFA in Smithtown. I love it and look forward to it every week. It's all different types of music. As much as it's fun for DD, it's nice to see other mommy's as well!!

I also did mixed age. I think DS was inspired by the toddlers to do more by seeing them sit up, crawl, etc. I went to 1 babies class as a makeup and I was so glad I was in the mixed class!
I agree with the above poster, it really is a personal preference. Can you try them both out?

We don't take classes yet, but I know DD would probably enjoy being in a mixed age better, b/c she thinks kids that can walk are hysterical and she's very amazed by them.

I would definitely do the Babies class. It has it's own music collection of songs that babies would like most. My DS loved it! And it's only one session so after that you can move on to mixed ages.

I just saw they have this class at the Port Jeff rec. center. What exactly do they do in the class? Anyone know?

At 2 months old, I would stick to babies only. I think 6+ months would be more appropriate for a mixed class.

I go to a different location but I think they are all pretty similar. The instructor usually plays a musical instrument or 2. There's pretty much constant music and movement. They take out small hand-held things for the kids (ie., shakers, a string of bells, maraccas).Sometimes they take out a parachute or other props to use with specific songs. They require anyone attending to participate.
