Rice in bottle help!
If your dc gets rice in his bottles which bottles do u use and what nipple? I use dr browns and been having so much trouble!!! I use a level 3 nipple/ sometimes it is super fast and other times it is awful! Feeding should not be this hard!

Rice in bottle help!
Have you tried to switch to Enfamil AR? I found this to be the best solution for my DS.

with dd #1 we tried the rice in cereal but it was so hard. The reg nipples no matter the level, dr browns, never helped. We tried the Y cut ones and it was like there was no top on it. We tried different formulas until we found one that was better.
DD2 needed it and we went to Enfamil AR. Best ever. Already adding in and mixed well. I did use playtex drop ins with her.
And we used the dr browns pitcher to mix for both my kids. Got all clumps and air bubbles out

When DS had rice in his bottles, he was on Nutramigen and we used a level 3 nipple. It was perfect for him.
But, I don't know what ratio you're mixing in the rice. If it's too thick, try reducing the amount of rice you use.

Rice in bottle help!
my first daughter had a hard time getting the rice cereal out of the bottle and I gave up after a few tries. my newest daughter has not problem getting the rice/milk out of the bottle and I'm using the same FAST platex nipple (not the same exact one- I did buy new ones for my youngest). sometimes I was putting only a teaspoon of cereal and other times 2 tablespoons.

She is on elecare for milk allergy and adding the rice for her severe reflux so I cannot try the enfamil ar- wish I could!!!!!!!

Y cut nipple. It's very fast and we had to only let her drink a sip at a time, but it's the only nipple the rice would fit thru

This is me exactly with both of my twins. Enfamil AR was great for the reflux before we discovered the allergy. However, I have noticed that Elecare is very thin compared to Nutramigen and any milk-based formulas, so it's common for many babies to spit up, let alone our little peanuts that already have reflux.
I use Dr. Brown's bottles and have not had a problem. They did use the level 1 nipples with the rice added, although it took a little longer to feed. I was afraid to go up a size and make them spit up more because it was too fast.
Now they are on the Level 2 nipple (they are 13 weeks now) and it's no problem at all. However, that said I do mix the bottle with the little formula blender from Munchkin if I am making one bottle at a time. It smooths it out.

But since I have twins, I usually make the formula in a pitcher and mix the powder and rice right in with the water using the Dr. Brown's pitcher so I am not making bottles all day. I make a pitcher and just pour it right into the bottles so I have them for the day.

Finally, my ped. told me one teaspoon (use a measuring spoon) per every 4 oz. of formula.

It seems like we are going through the same thing at around the same time. DS is on neocate. He is also on 2tbsp (1 tbsp. per 2 oz) of oatmeal (the rice was binding him). I use Playtex vent aire and the fast nipples. At first I did 1 tsp per 2 oz and I was able to use medium nipples.

My dd was on neocate nd we also had to use rice. We also used dr. Browns bottles. We used considerably less rice than the GI doctor recommended - we found that even just a little went a long way! I remember using an old neocate scooper for the rice, and put in half a scooper of rice for every 2 scoops of formula. So I guess a 4:1 ratio. We went up to the size 2 nipple initially when she was still a newborn (made our way up to bigger sizes as she drank more and faster).
I did not think the dr. Browns bottles helped. We eventually switched to,playtex for cleaning ease.

Some rice cereal is finer than others. I found Gerber rice cereal it be pretty fine flakes that could pass through a level 2 nipple( I have born free bottles) 1 tbl for every 4 oz.

If your Lo has a milk allergy, our GI told us to avoid gerber, as they use a lot of soy fillers, and milk allergic babies are often sensitive to or allergic to soy. We only used earths best or, in a pinch, beech nut.

I have noticed this too. Breaching or unearths best should be used for OP as Gerber cereals contain soy.

This. I have actually for the last two weeks been using happy and it has a probiotic in it. There is no milk. It has been so much better
