Really late milestone, but Mommy's happy!
Loey FINALLY started to consistently say MAMA!
I know everyone else's kids did this at like 7 months old... but he's been really late to the whole "talking" game (driving his SLP mommy absolutely bonkers). But he's finally starting to catch on and started saying MAMA! YAYYYY
Oh and just for fun, here's a pic of my big boy!

Yay!
This gives me hope that Evan will say it some day. He is like Loey. I think I may cry when he finally says it.
Loey is adorable BTW.

Re: Really late milestone, but Mommy's happy!
Thanks for understanding girls!
He's so vocal now, but not really saying any words besides "mama" and "dada" and "gaga" (grandma).
He signs "more" and I think he signs "all done."
He also gestures a lot. He doesn't "point" but he lifts his hand toward things he wants. He actually goes over to the fridge, says "ehhh" until you open it. Then he will look inside the fridge, pick out what he wants (blueberries or yogurt or whatever) and hands it to me. So he's communicating, but not using actual words. I'm hoping that it's coming though because he seems like he's ready.
I'm glad other people understanding and weren't because I see people posting that their kids are doing that at like 7 months and I've felt so bad!

Don't ever feel bad! DS was a late roller, crawler and walker (he didn't let go until 16m). I got the from people sometimes, but you know what? He did things at his own pace & he's all caught up now. These kiddos just operate on their own timelines sometimes & we can't always go by what other people post on here

Re: Really late milestone, but Mommy's happy!
Riley was never big on mama either...she just babbled it...and always said dada constantly. She's only really been saying mama (actually now it's Mommy ) just recently, as of 18 months.
But of course it would make you feel great!! It's one of the best milestones!

Yah for Loey!!!!
I also think it is important to remember how many people get the keeping up with the jones's syndrome. They want their kid to do everything first and best and yadda yadda.
Some parents will also take that very first time their child randomly put the mama syllables together and say they are saying mama. There is no connection, it's not even babble, and was one of those one time things not to be done for another couple weeks. Being that this is your field, you are waiting to date the milestone until it is something that he is consistently doing (which is really how it should be done).
