RE appt... am i jumping the gun
Ok so im officially out this month. AF has shown her face. I spoke with my friend and she really suggests that i see an RE. so i have an appt. tuesday with dr. sung. DH and i have been trying for a year. Not a year of using OPK and all but actively trying if you know what i mean. He is having a cystoscopy on april 16th because he has difficulty urinating and even with ejaculation he is on so much pain. He is on flomax.. but as i have learned recently flomax causes the sperm to retrograde back into bladder so you will ejaculate but nothing come out if you know what i mean. So instead of making DH suffer in pain with all the BD i thought i would take this route. Do you think they will tell me im INsane and that im too young to worry. If they do the cystoscopy and see that the neck of his bladder needs to be opened they then the doctor already said that insemination will be our only alternative cuz the acid from urine would kill the sperm. DH seems a little annoyed that im going this route. He keeps saying "its gonna happen" we dont need this, i dont want to spend the money. I tried to explain to him that our insurance covers 100% except the co pay and for IVF as last resort they cover 50,000 per person for lifetime. So do you guys think this is jumping the gun. Sorry for making it so long.

Re: RE appt... am i jumping the gun
Personally, I don't think it's jumping the gun. We just started seeing an RE and we've been trying for just under a year but having been doing time BD for 7 cycles. My RE said I wasn't jumping the gun when I said that I wasn't sure if we were seeing him too quickly.

Dr. Sung is at RSofNY right? I go there....I've never seen her for an appointment but I hear she's very good. The whole practice is good. I've very happy there.

Re: RE appt... am i jumping the gun
You are definately doing the right thing especially since you do have a condition under DH. It is better to check it out & they say as long as you have not been protecting for a year & didn't get PG, it is wise to seek help....
Hope you get the answers on Tuesday

No I don't. I think it is appropriate step and you are covered. All doctors say if you have been trying for a year and you are under 30 it is time to get help.

Re: RE appt... am i jumping the gun
I don't think you're necessarily jumping the gun, though from what you've posted it seems more like it's your DH who is having the problem. I think it's smart that you both are getting checked out b/c it sounds to me that down the road you will need to see one.

Re: RE appt... am i jumping the gun
You are def. not jumping the gun. Given your DH's health history, he sounds like a prime candidate for MF IF. A year is plenty long enough to be trying with no results.

I agree, although I suspect the RE will say to wait and see what happens with your DH before trying insemination. I know a couple where the husband had an issue with variacoles and once he had a small procedure they got pregnant naturally in no time.
