Rash on Toddler Face
My daughter has had a rash on her cheeks that comes and goes but never really goes away. The pedi said it's eczema and to use Cetaphil. That doesn't do anything. I've also tried Aveno baby eczema creme and it's the same. The allergist said it's a staph infection and she gave me a topical antibiotic. No change (She has no allergies to food anymore - we've tested her.) I'm waiting to see a dermatologist but can't get in for a few weeks.
Does anyone have any other ideas of what this could be from experience? Maybe a yeast infection?

I think it sounds like eczema. Make sure you have a humidifier on in her room. Also try to be religious with applying lotion - I used Vaseline. My son had it really bad when he was 12-14 months old. It eventually cleared up on its own.

Re: Rash on Toddler Face
My younger son has eczema really bad & none of the moisturizing creams like cetaphil do anything to help. The only thing that works is a layer of hydrocortisone cream(over the counter) every day & it really helps clear it up. It is the only thing that clears up his rashes. If it's eczema that your daughter has, it may be worth a shot.

Re: Rash on Toddler Face
DS has eczema and the only thing that helps his flare ups are an rx. Have you tried hydrocortisone twice a day?

Re: Rash on Toddler Face
Are you sure its not a food allergy?
My DS has eczema and the aveeno stuff helps some but he did have a rash around his face that just started one day and as soon as we stopped giving him Stonyfield Very berry yogurts it cleared up with in a week. We had determined that the raspberries (process of elimination since we knew it wasn't blueberries or raspberries) were irritating him.

Re: Rash on Toddler Face
my son had something similar and it took us 3 doctors to finally get it treated right. Started out being told it was eczema, and it was not. For him, it was a form of dermatitis and a prescription cleared it up. But we tried 3 other prescriptions and otc meds that did not work
