Re: Random acts of kindness
I tend to let people in when driving. 10+ years ago they were doing the massive construction on Northern by the Meadowbrook. We were barely moving and no one let this one car on the side of the road in. I did and what did his bumper sticker say? "Commit Random Acts of Kindness" I started seeing his car on the way to and from work! I even saw the car at my local Staples!

Re: Random acts of kindness
When i was in college i found a bag with around $300 cash and an expired license...i turned it into the local police precinct. About a week later I got a call from a lady..she was the GF of the guy who lost the bag. Turned out he had lost his job & sold a bunch of stuff and this was his last bit of $. He was fixing the GF's car and left the bag on the bumper & it fell off when she took the car out.
Awhile ago i helped an elderly lady unload her groceries from her cart onto the conveyer belt at the supermarket cause i could tell she was struggling.

Re: Random acts of kindness
DH and I saw two dogs running across Deer Park Avenue. We saved them from being hit by cars and called the owner on the tags. The owner picked them up and they were brought home.
When I was a little girl, I used to tell my mother how I wanted to visit the sick kids in the hospital and give them all my toys that I was tired of playing with. I still remember that feeling I had seeing their faces light up.

Re: Random acts of kindness
We have a snowblower so DH always clears the driveways of at least four of our neighbors when it snows.
I found a purse on the floor in Target and waited with it until I found an employee of the store, and then waited until the woman came back to claim it. It had a really full wallet in it - she seemed very happy to get everything back.
Someone left the wallet of the prior owner of my house in my mailbox (guess she never changed her ID). I tracked her down and got her wallet back to her.

Re: Random acts of kindness
Last year the night b4 Thanksgiving I went to get my aunt a gift certificate for Friendlys (she loves her senior breakfasts ). I went to the pick up window & stood there for 10 minutes; well no one came to help me & I had the 2 kids & left in a huff.
An hour later I was meeting a friend for dinner so I was looking everywhere for my wallet & realize I had to have left it on the counter as I was waiting at friendlys..OMG.
I was 45 minutes away & decided to call. Person on phone says, no, no wallet. Then someone in the background says, call Patty at home; she was the manager on duty. They tell me to call back in 15 minutes. I'm thinking to myself...oh yea, I know how this is ending.
I call back 20 minutes later & they tell me the mgr had a blue wallet & put it in their safe. I was never so relieved.
Then my friend & I were thinking there was no way my cards & $ & gift cards would still be there. I drive back & could not believe EVERYTHING was still there. The worker said someone came to the pick up window after I left, saw the wallet & ran out after me but I was all ready pulling out; so they gave to the mgr.
I gave the mgr $$ & she wouldn't take it.

If I don't use a coupon or have extra, I will find someone to give it to. I try to find the person with the most stuff to buy so it saves them a few $$.

Re: Random acts of kindness
Driving home one day I saw a beautiful dog running down the street. I stopped and called him over, saw that he had a collar with an address. It wasn't far from my house so I loaded him in the car with my DD and took him home. When we got there nobody was home and there was another dog hiding in the bushes shaking. So I coxed her out and made sure they were secured in the backyard. Left the owners a note on the door that I found their dogs running down the road.

Maybe I'm slow but I don't get it.
That is from the Bible. I think Matthew basically if you do something good do it and forget it. Don't look for credit.

Re: Random acts of kindness
I was grocery shopping in Waldbaums. i didnt have my purse with me but had my wallet only. I left it in the sectiona kid would sit while I loaded my trunk. Well I forgot it.
I got home and realized I didnt have it and went into a panic. I rushed back to Waldbaums and searched carts... Nothing... Went to the Customer Service Desk and nothing....
I left Waldbaums and started home thinking about how to go about cancelling all my cards. my cell phone rang and it was my Mom. She never calls my cell. She asked if I lost my wallet. The person who used my cart after me found it, did their shopping and took it home to look me up. They found my mom and told her they had it! They lived local and I went to get it.
Such nice people, they wouldnt accept anything in return for finding me. So I went to get them a cake and had "Thank You" written on it!!!

Re: Random acts of kindness
I found a dollar bill on the ground of the Dairy Queen parking lot the other day but instead of keeping it I put it in the tip jar (nothing huge but it made me feel good not to be selfish)
Years ago I found a ladies whole purse next to a bush beside a parking space and I drove to the nearest police station and turned it in. She later called me to thank me profusely because she got everything back
I should do more
