quick party drink question:

I'm having a 2nd bday party for DD next Sat.
There will be 15 little kids and about 35 adults.
Can I get away without serving soda??

I'm having two glass jugs full of lemonade & iced tea, bottled water, a keg, (I have wine/sangria too) and honest kids juice boxes for the little ones. Obv. coffee at cake time.

Would you think it weird if there weren't cans of soda?

You could probably get away with it but I do think most people would expect there to be some soda.

how long is the party? I dont know that if its hot and outside, that 2 jugs of a beverage is going to be enough. Chat Icon

Re: quick party drink question:

I did the same thing as you. I had some cans of soda in the fridge in case someone asked. No one did.

They are big glass serving jugs that I can replenish as needed.

Re: quick party drink question:

You could do it - but I would have at least a couple of bottles of diet pop on hand. You don't need to get cans.. just a few 2 liter bottles. Even store brand is fine in case someone asks.

Re: quick party drink question:

I would probably get just a couple bottles of soda maybe two diet two regular. Some people (like my dad) really only drink soda.

I would pick up a few bottles just in case. I know people who do not drink lemonade, iced tea, or water.

Yes, I think it would be weird not to serve soda at a party. To me that's like not having coffee available with cake.

Re: quick party drink question:

Even though I don't drink soda, I would expect there to be some at a party.

I've never been to a party where they dint have soda, I'd prefer a diet soda over any ice tea or lemonade...

Re: quick party drink question:

Nancy, at my MD shower we had almost the same setup. A refillable container of lemonade, unsweetened iced tea, water and wine. I put out a coke and coke zero and no one touched them. I don't think most people drink soda anymore, but that's just me.

OK. I bought a few cases of flavored sparkling water, and I'll buy some bottles of Diet Coke/ Diet Sprite.
My main concern was all the little kids opening and not finishing cans of coke and leaving them 3/4 full all over the place (not to mention being hopped up on caffeine!)
