Question for those of you who found out what you were having...
DH and I are not sure if we should find out... I am just afraid that I will miss out on something the day I deliver... my mom that passed away always said to me that its the one big surprise of your life... I'm just wondering... did any of you feel like you missed out on something by finding out? I'm gonna post a poll incase you dont wanna post... thanks!!

not really, I just wanted to know so that I could start decorating, figure out a name, just really feel connected to her.

Not at all...I was so happy that day and everyone couldn't wait to see her...it didn't lessen things at all that we knew it was a girl. It helped me with decorating, having everything ready and we called her her name for several months while pg.
We were surprised it was a ...just a few months early!

Not at all! I really bonded with my belly once I knew she was a girl! And all the planning was so easy. Took a lot of anxiety out of the process

Not at all! WE loved being able to plan for her arrival. The big surprise was seeing her first time. We refused to get a 3d SONO cause you can actually "see" what the baby looks like more than a reg, so we left that to the delivery day.
Plus we loved being able to call my belly she, not "it" or he/she.
With this pg, we are finding out again.

I voted a little....part of me wanted that surprise but DH was so impatient.
There is a wonderful satisfaction knowing what's coming and being able to prepare for it. Also, if you have elderly or sick family that might not get to meet the little one, knowing what you are haveing brings them joy too.
This one we'll find out too and if it's a boy we're shouting it from the rooftops! It'll be only the 2nd blood boy on my side of the family!

Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to be surprised, but I never felt like I missed out or anything like that. I liked being able to plan his room and all ahead of time.

I know some people say its a big surprise and you will ruin it if you find out...I mean how much of a surprise is it really? Surprise you're pregnant?? Or surprise you have a 50/50 shot of having a boy or girl LOL
Thats how I look at it. Im SO happy we found out and next time around (God willing) I will too!

I didn't find out with Ryan and I was glad I didn't. So many people find out and it was nice to be different. As far as the nursery goes - we were going to paint it neutral regardless. We knew we would ttc not too long after having Ryan so the walls are mint green and the color goes with anything. Blue pin purple.
What ever you decide - I'm sure you will be happy.
One opinion (I hope you don't mind) If I were in your place I wouldn't find out in honor of your Mom. good Luck!!!!

no way! I felt like I knew them starting at 6 weeks... knowing their sex gave them personality even before they arrived. Either way it's a surprise - it's whether you find out sooner or later!

Not at all!!!!!!!!! Actually, I felt like I had TWO surprises instead of one!! The first surprise was when we found out we were having a baby boy and the second was when we actually got to meet our little man When we have another we will definately be finding out the sex again

I would feel I missed out on something if we DIDN'T find out. For most of my pregnancy, i wasn't just pregnant with my baby, I was carrying MY SON! It really made me feel so connected to him and to form a bond that wouldn't have been there if I didn't know the gender.
The surprise in the delivery room was meeting our boy for the first time and it was really really amazing!
We are going to find out this time also, for the same reasons.

I absolutely did not feel like we missed out one anything by finding out the sex.... Not knowing exactly when I'll give birth is enough of a surprise for me.

Absolutely not. Many people act like it takes the thrill away but NOTHING can take the thrill away of bringing life into the world. It is a miracle either way I was completely prepared with a decorated room, a name and a closet full of clothes.

I agree!! People say there are so few surprises in life, but that's not true. There are so many surprises and finding out the gender at 20 weeks is really no different than finding out at 40 weeks.
Plus the clothes situation at the shower is MUCH better!

I said not at all too. I wanted to plan his room and make sure I had everything I wanted for him. However, I think that next time around, I might wait. I think now that I have most things I could go for a surprise next time

This is how we felt. It was still a surprise to find out even if it was earlier on.

Absolutely not! I am a very visual person so I needed to picture it. It also helped me and especially DH bond with her.
Trust me, nothing can ruin the moment of birth. Even if I knew everything about her down to her eye color and the career she wanted, knowing and seeing adn touching are 2 different things. I was so excited when she came out and when they told me she was healthy and handed her to me... nothing can beat that moment. No matter what.

I was happy that I found out with DS. I was able to plan and it made it easier for me. This time around thought I do not to find out only because I want the experience to be a little different.
