Question for Queens people or anyone who knows Queens pretty well...
If you hear that someone is from Lindenwood, would you think Howard Beach, co-ops and condos or would you think projects, Lindenwood Diner, drugs and crime. Also, the not so good part of Lindenwood,isthat even considered Howard Beach or is that Brooklyn? TIA!
I ask because DH was stopped by cops last night for not making a complete stop at a stop sign and when the cop saw he was from Howard Beach he said "oh that is Lindenwood" and said "well, whats going on in Lindenwood" Dh was confused and said "I'm not sure what you are talking about" the cop then said "well, what you can tell me about whats going on there will depend on if you get arrested tonight"   
What the he!! is that???
I am really upset by the way he was treated last night and I can't stop thinking about it.....they searched him and his whole car.

I lived in Queens for 36 years and if someone said "Lindenwood" to me I'd have no idea what they were talking about - never heard of it!!

I lived in Queens for 36 years and if someone said "Lindenwood" to me I'd have no idea what they were talking about - never heard of it!!
Honestly, I wouldn't have known had I not lived there, but this cop seemed to "know" the area and thats why I was confused. Its is not really a town...more like a town within a town ya know?

it's on the brooklyn border.
i'm 2 mins from the belt pkwy and once i get on - i'm in brooklyn
if you go on linden blvd, it goes into brooklyn

I've only been here a year and a half and I have no clue where the back is.
I never knew this...DH just told me last night that when his boss heard where we lived he said "ehhh...you live in that crappy neighborhood?" Dh was like

My first apartment was in HB and I lived in one of those co-op buildings across the street from the Lindenwood shopping center.
I'd think of it as HB, not Brooklyn.
Can't imagine what the cop was referring to.

When I think of Lindenwood I think of condos and mini strip malls. Then again I live 5 minutes from Lindenwood.
it's its own neighborhood, but it's technically part of HB. NOT Brooklyn.
ETA: If you live in LW you will get a lot of "You don't live in HB, you live in Lindenwood" Old Howard gets the same thing.
