Yes. That is what the WW guidelines are.

I was under the impression that it was supposed to be 8 glasses of fluids. Water, being the best option.

Re: Question
Someone just posted a thread here that mentioned the 8 glasses as an outdated medical...thing (can't think of the term). I would think that the 3 glasses of skim milk would knock off 3 glasses of water. Water also comes in your non-caffeinated beverages, as well as fruits & veggies.
So, if you eat a balanced diet, drink your 2% skim and have fruits & veggies, 3 or 4 glasses of water a day should be good.
***This is my uneducated opinion, but if you think about it, doesn't it kinda make sense?

Re: Question
Ive always wondered whether they meant 8 glasses or 8 cups. My glasses can hold nearly 2 cups of water. If the guideline really means 8 glasses, then there is no way I could drink 16 cups of water a day.

Yes. That small glasses of 8 oz, not the big glasses. I thought it was the big glasses at some point and there was no way I could do it.
That's the equivalent of 4 small bottles of water (not the super tiny one!)

yup, just last week or the week before. There were several things that were taken out of context and this was one of them.
Here is a Today Show thing about it here

I know there's truth to their research and statements, but people should also take it with a grain of salt. i.e- they leave it open for interpretation that you can drink 8 glasses of a caffeinated beverage in leiu of water, which is completely misleading. Caffeine, as a diuretic, eliminates much of what you take in, therefore possibley not providing proper hydration to important cells, etc. Most people won't be extremely affected by it, but at risk populations (young, elderly, PG) should be aware of that fact.

I drink loads of liquids a day - too much of it is soda - but I easily drink 100+ ounces of something a day.

I drink a lot of water... at least 2 liters.
I only have 1/2 cup skim milk some mornings in my cereal... I hate drinking milk.

Re: Question
3 glases of milk? Can you have that in melty ice cream form?
I drink a lot of liquid--mostly juice/water combos. I can't drink that much plain water, and I only have milk in cereal. Even in tea it's
I read that you should count caffeinated beverages as a 1/2, b/c they have water, but are dehydrating.

I actually drink about that in a day.
Maybe not all that milk in one day - but most days.
And I can never get enough water

Re: Question
I drink at least 8 oz of Organic Skim Milk every day - sometimes, once in the AM and once at night. It is so good for you in so many ways!
Also, I drink at least 2-3 bottles of water a day.
So, yeah, I guess I do get the "recommended" amount.

Re: Question
It was me who posted that medical myth article last week and I was amazed too. I've heard that all my life - about the 8 cups of water a day.
Obviously, drinking a lot of water isn't bad for you. But think about it - if you're drinking (8) 8oz. glasses of water a day, how much soda/iced tea/coffee etc. are you drinking too? If you replace the bad stuff with water, I think that will yield much better results!

And the anemic too! Did you (collective you) know that coffee and tea are bad for people with low iron?
I just went to find something to link with that fact and found out some of my other favorite foods are on the bad list. Wah!
Certain foods have been found to interfere with iron absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, and these foods should be avoided in persons with established iron deficiency.
They include tea, coffee, wheat bran, rhubarb, chocolate, chewing gum, red wine, and dairy products.

Re: Question
I drink nearly a gallon of plain water a day - I always drank a lot of water but when I started dieting last year I really stepped it up. Now its just habit and if I don't drink enough water I get headaches, etc.
I never drink milk but I do eat cheese, greens, etc. and take a vitamin to get calcium.
