Q. about IUI
I am getting ready to try IUI next month. Just out of curiosity, does my DH have to provide a sperm sample in the office or can he do it from the comfort of home?
Also, can they spin the sperm for a gender preference before IUI? I am at LI IVF?

DH produced his sample at home. I don't know anything about spinning it for a specific gender.
I'm at LI IVF also.

I'm not sure about the gender thing. But when we did our IUIs, we produced the sample at home, kept it warm, and got it to the office within 45 minutes or so.

DH has always produced at home. My RE requires that the sample be delivered within 1 hour. They will give you a specimen cup to put it in (mine does).
They tell you to transport it close to your body to keep it as close to body temp as you can. If DH transports it, it gets tucked inside the waistband of his pants. If I transport it, I place it in my bra between the girls.
Yeah... You haven't lived until you race to the doctor with a jar of semen tucked in your bra! I almost want to get pulled over...

On both our IUI's, DH did his thing at home & then brought it in. I know nothing about the gender thing though

For IUI's DH always produced at home...for IVF, he had to produce at the office.
I've never heard of spinning for sex...I don't really think that is possible.

For my first IUI which will prob. be next month sometime we are going into the city and DH will produce his sample upstairs and they will spin and wash it right there and then it will come downstairs to me where the doc will do the IUI

My DH did it there twice and at home once...but either is fine as long as you can get the sample there in under and hour I think and at body temperature.
