q about diaper cream
hi ladies, i have a q. do you need to use diaper cream on DC:
1) every time you change him?
2) only when he poops
3) only when you see a rash

we use vaseline every time and diaper rash cream when they actually have a rash. We were told that we shouldnt use diaper rash cream everyday/ every changing bc their skin can become immune too it and wont work when you actually need it - when they have a rash.

thanks to all who replied.
my concern with using diaper cream all the time is the chemicals ( zinc specifically) that they contain.
great advice about petroleum jelly!

we use Desatin, and not every time, if I see a rash, or she's red etc.

I use all the time on DD-- unless I am out and maybe don't have. I don't take diaper cream to go anymore since I don't change her so much out. She's about to be fully potty trained, she's 2.5-- and she still gets cream alll the time. She also has sensitive skin so she absolutely needs it.

I'm pretty sure that I read zinc oxide was natural but petroleum jelly most likely is not purified and contains chemicals.
I have to look into this more.

Same here
Same here. Although I do carry Desitin in the diaper bag for when we are out. My kids tend to go from nothing to rash quickly, with no red in between.
