Did you ever put cortizone cream on your DC for diaper rash?
DS has been home from day care all week sick with something and as a side effect has SEVERE diaper rash. We went to the doctor and he suggested putting maalox on the rash, as well as cortizone and balmex. Is it safe to use cortizone on a baby's skin? Did anyone else ever get advised to do this?

I've never been advised to use it for diaper rash but I have used it for mild eczema and itchiness.
Have you tried Triple Paste? That's always worked wonders for DD...

We use it every night on my son's face as well as other spots on his body when they need. He has severely dry and cracked skin.

not for diaper rash... butfor a regualr allergy related rash yes.
have you tried Dr. Flanders ointment? or just plain vaseline or aquaphor?

I am going to try Aquaphor next. I just wasn't sure about the cortizone because I didn't know if it was bad to go into his bloodstream. I asked my Dr. about triple paste and he said the ingredients in triple paste are the same as what is in balmex and cortizone. But I may go try and find it anyway because what I am doing is not working and my son is screaming in pain!

Also, what helps DD sometimes is just rinsing her with water instead of using wipes. It's kind of a pain, but, she usually gets better faster when I do that.

I have never used it for diaper rash but I did use it for bad baby acne (under drs orders) because it was actually a form of cradle cap.
I think it is completely safe for their skin.

I used a very expensive prescription cream (not covered by insurance) for Cailens bad diaper rash that had cortizone in it - just a dab one time a day...
