Putting a pricey stroller on your registry...

So the stroller we've decided on is priced at 700 bucks. I definitely don't expect anyone to purchase it for us but planned on adding it to my registry anyway so we can purchase it ourselves with our registry completion discount. Plus I like the idea of having everything on one central list.
My sister thinks I shouldn't even have it listed on my registry. She thinks it makes me look nervy or greedy or spoiled or crazy... I don't know!

I hadn't previously thought it was an issue, but now I'm wondering what the right thing to do is.

For those that picked a pricey stroller, did u have it listed on your registry?

**************UPDATE*************
Just wanted to update this in case someone out there is also questioning what's appropriate to have on a registry. I did end up leaving the pricey stroller on my registry, and added my $600 glider as well—and both have been purchased already! (Yes, I'm a registry stalker.)

I'm completely blown away. I never expected these items would be purchased for us. I had full expectations of buying them myself with my completion discount, but I guess you never know!

So when it doubt, register for it anyway!

Put it on. If no one wants to buy it, they won't. But maybe a group will.

Leave it on. I had my furniture on so I could keep it all together and get the completion discount.

Also it could be a group gift. If you have a large range of priced items you are fine.

i'd keep it on. no one is going to judge you about it. when i buy registry presents, i rarely even look at all the merchandise. i focus on what is in/around my particular price point.

I would register for it and not worry about it; this way you can get your completion discount on it. I have a friend that put the bugaboo on her registry. She didn’t expect anyone to buy it but wanted to be able to get it with her completion discount and she did just that. I don’t think it’s a big deal even if people comment on it as being an expensive request. Get what you want Chat Icon

Re: Putting a pricey stroller on your registry...

I didn't. I'm pretty sure I have the stroller you're talking about based on price. I didn't bother putting it on my registry because I didn't think anyone would buy it. I ended up buying it myself and just put the accessories on my registry. I don't think it's nervy to put it on there I just didn't think it would be purchased. I don't see anything wrong with keeping it on there. You'll probably get GCs from a few people and you can always use that towards an expensive stroller.

Put it on! If anyone has a problem with it then they do not have to buy it. A group of people can buy it for you or you can use your completion coupon to get it yourself at the end. I would not worry about it at all!

I would put it on, but if you feel uncomfortable maybe you can add it on the day after your shower so no one sees it? This way you can still get your completion discount

i would put it on the registry after your shower. to be honest, $700 is a lot for a stroller, and by putting it on your registry you're assuming someone would spend that much money on a baby gift for you (which they might). it does seem slightly spoiled imho.

I put one on for that price, probably the same one. My best friend suggested it and she is going in on it with some other people.

If they didn't then I would just use GC and the coupon and get it myself.

I put the Uppa Baby cruz on and it was $400+ I did it so we could use the coupon to get it ourselves. I would just leave it on like the PP said maybe a group will chip in and get it for you

I think it's fine, as long as you also have lower price points on your registry. Sometimes a group of people will go in on a larger item, so you might be surprised and get your stroller! Otherwise, it's worth it to use your completion discount on it.

I would say, you may want to keep it on so someone could get possible accessories.

Not sure about this particular stroller but most have cup holders, rain covers, whatever-attachment as a separate cost. these are probably more affordable and you might receive.

IMHO, if this is the only *expensive* thing on your registry, then I don't think you look greedy at all. If every single thing on your registry is $100++++ then I could see that impression.

I would put it on also ~ when I did my registry for my DS I put on my rocker chair (I wanted my hubby to know which one I wanted) At first I felt weird about putting it on but glad I did.

Re: Putting a pricey stroller on your registry...

We purchased our Bugaboo Cameleon, which is pricey, but still have it on our registry. We wanted people to know what we got so they could buy corresponding accessories for it. :) I remember when my SIL was pregnant in 2008-2009 and she registered for the Bugaboo Frog even though she purchased it. I ended up getting her the corresponding sunshade as one of my shower gifts for her so it worked out well. Who cares what people think anyway? Those who will have something to complain about wil find something, and those who won't, won't.

That's a really good point too-The accessories (cup holder; shade etc); could make some good gifts.
Like I said before; don't worry about what people think if you have a pricey stroller on your registry-it's what YOU want

Update at top!

that's great!!! You'll be surprised at people's generosity!!

And it could have been a group gift. My co-worker had a baby a few months ago and we collected almost $400 for her. We got one of the more pricey items on her registry for her. It was from like 20 of us (putting in $20 each).

I'm never shy about putting things on the registry-and like you said...you had every intention of buying it yourself; but now you don't have to! Stop registry stallking LOL! You'll ruin the surpise at your shower :)

Yay! I was iffy on putting double items on my registry but people are insanely generous and are buying items in twos. Glad you added it!!
