Re: Proposition 8 in Cali passed!
I am totally floored it did too
I have to say the Yes on 8 supporters had a crap load of $$$$$ backing them.
I had a skywriting plane fly over my workplace area on Monday. It said "Save traditional marriage".
They knew their target audience and heavily hit the religion aspect .

Its so sad when such holier than thou indivduals hide behind religion to tell other how to live thier lives and who to love.
I know the God that I pray to everynight is a loving God, not a judgemental one.

I would assume that their marriages are null and void now. Poor Ellen & Portia!

I looked it up. According to the National Center for Lesbian Rights, the initiative does not appear to be retroactive. Therefore, it looks like couples married before November 4, 2008 are still legally married in CA. (Let's hope!)

Re: Proposition 8 in Cali passed!
Its sad, cause look at traditional marriage the divorce rate is sky high, you have husbands who murder their wives, and you have men and women who cheat in their marriages
I dont know what is so special about saving a traditional marriage when it is so obviously tainted

Re: Proposition 8 in Cali passed!
it just seems so strange to me that such a highly democratic state would pass this proposition - it is ridiculous that this passed.

Well that's one glimmer of hope for those married during that time.

Seriously. Way to go guys. You just put bigotry and hate into your state constitutions. The forfathers would be very proud.

I wish more people felt this way. I really do. It is such a shame that we are regressing when it comes to this type of tolerance

Re: Proposition 8 in Cali passed!
That's such a shame.
I'm happy that CT voters rejected the proposal on holding a constitutional convention, which could've been used to overturn the CT Supreme Court's ruling that banning same sex marriage is unconstitutional.

ITA. The God I pray to is not a hateful one. I always think about Bible stories about Jesus. While Jesus was dedicated to his values and morals, he was ALWAYS befriending the outcasts of society - the ones people refused to accept. Why can't more people live the way Jesus actually lived, rather than use him name to spread hatred?

So wrong. So sad. I still can't believe some people can't get past this. With all the firsts we have had this year, it would have been nice to have this also.
