Re: Private Room - Worth the $$$?
I don't think Good Sam gives you the option. I think there are 2 private rooms and its luck of the draw.
But honestly, it depends on your situation. I was a c-section so I stayed 4 days. I had the first day room to myself, which was perfect because I felt awful. Then the next 3 I had a roommate. But it was great because both of our kids were in NICU. We would go down together, commiserate together. It was nice, to have her there to talk to when family/friends weren't around. Someone who totally understood the anxiety of a baby in NICU! In fact, we still talk occasionally since we are FB friends

Re: Private Room - Worth the $$$?
I didn't have to share a room during my entire stay at St. Charles...although I did request not to have a roomate because my baby was in NICU and they told me that they would never do that which felt very comforting...I don't think that I would have had a roomate anyway

Re: Private Room - Worth the $$$?
I had my at LIJ, no private room for me, I thought its a waste of money,IMO. Besides, i had a roommate for only one night, the next night I was solo and then released on day #3.

Re: Private Room - Worth the $$$?
I'm OOS and all the rooms are private. I loved it and can't imagine having to share a room but, I also can't imagine spending $1200 a night for 2 -3 nights for each kid (around 10K total ).
If the rooms weren't private and it cost that much for a private room I would probably suck it up for a few days and deal with a roomie.

Ditto!
At my hospital, Not only do you not share a room but you labor, deliver and recover all in the same private room.
I cant imagine having to share but I think I would suck it up considering the prices Im reading about.

Re: Private Room - Worth the $$$?
I don't think it would bother me either way.but honestly we have such huge families I would feel bad for my roommate. So I'm considering it. Do we have to do this before hand? Or when we are headed to deliver?
