Prayers Needed. Please Read. **UPDATE 11/11**
I would really appreciate it if everyone who is reading this would send some prayers, positive vibes and healing thoughts to my stepmom. We found out on Sat. that she has a very large mass in her lung and that there are also metastases in both lungs. To make matters worse, she has been having issues with remembering simple things, i.e. her computer password, my sister's address, spelling and is just losing her train of thought easily. I fear that it has spread to her brain as well.  We have an appt with the oncologist tomorrow at 8am. Needless to say, I am scared shiitless, but my entire family thinks I am the strong one who's got it together so I need to keep my cool.
This woman is not really my stepmom, but rather my mommy. My dad divorced my birth mother when I was 4 (my bro and I lived with him) and my stepmom has been in my life since I was 5. She and my dad have been married for almost 27 years and they raised me, my brother and two sisters together. I guess what I am trying to say is that I need all of the prayers I can get for my amazing mom. Everyone who knows her loves her, and to add insult to injury, my little sister is due with her first baby on Nov. 21st. My mom had plans to stay with my sister and help her in the beginning stages of mommyhood. Now, things are just a total mess.
I would really appreciate a miracle for this superwoman who is the love of my daddy's life and the glue that holds my family together. Please take just one minute to send her good thoughts.

**UPDATE 11/11**
Thank you all so very much for the good thoughts, prayers and hugs. Unfortunately, things are as bad, if not worse, than I feared. Tuesday was a day filled with three doctor appts and an MRI. Because I am running the show, I am the person who everyone contacts, whether it be the doctor, his staff or our family/friends. Needless to say, I have a fuucking headache. Anyway, my beautiful mom does have a large tumor in her left lung as well as several smaller tumors thruout both lungs. The head/brain MRI that she was sent for on Tues came back positive, and so she also has a brain tumor and major swelling in her brain. What really sucked that day was that we were at home waiting to leave for the last doc appt when the oncologist's office called my cell and told me that she had the brain tumor/swelling and that we needed to get my mom back to the office for IV steroids asap. So, I had to break the news to my mom, daddy and little sister (who is due with her first baby on 11/21) that she also has a brain tumor. Talk about a shittty task.
Yesterday was biopsy day, since the biopsy doc squeezed her in. Apparently the large mass is larger than anticipated and is almost completely blocking her airway. (One good thing is that she was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer, which is the better one to have than the more aggressive, small cell lung cancer.) The docs fear that she may develop pneumonia, and also due to the brain tumor, we are seeing a radiology oncologist this afternoon so we have a plan to start radiation on her brain and large mass asap. Thankfully, since I recently had surgery myself, I am out of work until Dec so I can continue to make sure everything in set up and is being handled properly and swiftly. It also helps that my brother in law is an interventional radiologist so he is also speaking with the doctors to make sure what they are doing is on par with what should be done. Luckily, my older sister who lives in Chile flew home the other night, and I was able to pick her up at JFK and suprise our mom by bringing her home on the worst day of her life. It really helps when family is all around. 
So, that's all for now. I will say, that even though we are getting a speed course in cancer and treatment, we are in love with the practice we are using and are so incredibly pleased with the staff at Mather Hospital as well. If anyone is in suffolk county and needs a great oncologist, FM me and I will give you details. The docs and staff are amazing and have a wonderful bedside manner. Thank you all so much for thinking of my family, and any prayers or healing vibes you could send our way would be so appreciated.

I am so sorry to hear that and your Mom will be in my thoughts and prayers. I don't know a lot about it but look into the Gerson therapy. It has brought people back from Stage 4 cancer
