Are you girls following the no meat rules? I obviously will not be fasting, but I feel guilty having meat today. At the same time, I know we are supposed to limit fish intake.
If you are avoiding meat, what are you eating?

No, I won't be. I can't do too much fish just because too much makes me I'll (it's a mental thing even at 35 weeks)

Re: Practicing Catholics
Not a practicing Catholic but DH does the meatless Fridays. This Friday I plan on doing breaded eggplant and do an eggplant parm. The other Fridays we will do some kind of pasta or pizza.

I always forget about eggplant.
I could do grilled cheese, raviolis, pastas, pizza. I usually resort to sushi lol

No, I'm not following that rule during pregnancy. I go to church every Sunday, I'll just pray that God forgives me.

Re: Practicing Catholics
Yes, it is not a big deal to not eat meat for me. Pizza, grilled cheese, cereal, pb&j, pasta, ravioli, bagels w/ cream cheese, eggs, egg salad, fruit, yogurt, eggplant parm, shrmp parm. It's only 1 day a week (well twice this week and holy week). I won't starve.
But I can't fast, I'd die

Re: Practicing Catholics
I was debating not eating meat but I am more worried about the baby. I am going to do meatless Fridays.

I am not eating meat on Fridays. My nutritionist recommended eating fish twice a week so I will make one of those meals on Friday. For my other meals I will eat vegetarian or eggs.

You only need to limit high mercury fish and avoid farm raised fish and shrimp.

Re: Practicing Catholics
I still follow - not a big deal since I often each a meatless meal. I do fish 2x a week so that covers a lunch or dinner and have things like ravioli, cheese quesadilla, potato and eggs heros, pizza, pb & jelly etc

LOL - being on strict bedrest while pregnant, I've given up and wine! and Target! (And going anywhere for that matter) that should count for something!
That being said, I will try my hardest to avoid meat on Fridays. As one of the PPs brought up, I probably just need to familiarize myself with which fish are ok.
Thanks for all your responses!!!!

I am not Catholic, but I am a vegetarian, and I don't eat seafood either, so I am very familiar with meatless meals. I am also very conscious about balancing the right percentage of fat, carbs & protein. There are plenty of other ways to get your protein. For example.. yesterday for breakfast I had 1 egg, 2 whites, slice of american cheese & a tomato on an english muffin. Lunch was a black bean burrito. Dinner was Tortellini soup with spinach and baked eggplant parm. And I snacked on greek yogurt, strawberries and sugar free jello. I remember how difficult it was to come up with meal ideas when I stopped eating meat, so I figured I'd share.

Technically you do not have to abstain from meat on Fridays or holy days but it is pretty easy to do it if you choose to do so.

I found out last year on Good Friday that I was PG so I missed the whole thing! But with DC#1,2 I did follow it.
