You're brave for writing this. Even if I did smoke (which I don't) I would never post this on a public forum. These threads never die!

Especially since it's illegal. Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon . It is also illegal to drive without a sealtbeltChat Icon

What's your point with that analogy? Chat Icon

that there are MANY illegal things that many people do every day, pot smoking is just one of them, I'm sure we all do something illegal daily, even if it is driving to the deli wihtout a seatbeltChat Icon

Honestly, i think people would be suprised by just how many professional adults smoke regularly. I know many that do and once when I was younger, I was baby sitting for a very well off couple and found a packed bowl in their kitchen cabinet. I was like Chat Icon

I can tell you when I do find out that certain people use it, I'm not necessarily shocked, but I do I think less of them. I don't care what they do for a living or how well off they are.

you think less of them? Why? Do you think less of someone that has a few drinks on the weekend and gets buzzed, because it is very similar. Don't waste your time having ill feelings toward them, they aren't hurting youChat Icon

We both have varying opinions on recreational drug use. Obviously a potsmoker will find ways to rationalize using it, just as I have my reasons for not using it. You're entitled to your views and I, mine. Chat Icon

If you're referring to "users" like me....I was hardly "bragging"...I simply don't think there is anything wrong with it and I have a lot of fun doing it. Anyway, you are right...we are all entitled to our opinion Chat Icon

I used to smoke a lot when I was in my 20's. I don't smoke anymore but I do have friends that do. It doesn't bother me. Although, DH doesn't like it all and won't tolerate anyone doing it in our home. I think in the past 7 years I have smoked about 3 times. I really would rather have a glass of wine now.

Can I ask why? Why because it is illegal? I personally would feel different about a person if they did cocaine, heroine or crack but definately not pot.

People go on here saying how many sexual partners they have. What is the difference? It seems this is a very open board and most people know what is going on in other people's lives. This is not much different.

Can you have your kids taken away for driving without a seatbelt?

I personally have no desire to smoke pot again. I can have fun without altering my brain. I also feel the risk are too high for someone who has children, and what if your employer finds out?

It's not illegal to have 50 sexual partners. Chat Icon

Everybody's circumstances are different, but there are some things I believe are better left not in writing. You may know who's posting, but you never know who is reading, such as your supervisor, coworkers, your patients or clients, etc..

Well personally, I rarely post at work and don't have anyone that I would be worried about what I say on here.
I really don't think this is a reason to get paranoid unless you work at a job that requires drug tests.

You do realize that you don't have to post from work for coworkers/supervisors/clients to read your posts right?

Re: Pot

Would the opinions of those who feel negatively towards pot change if pot were to become legal? Is the dislike based purely on the fact that it is illegal?

I know that none of my co-workers go on this site. They barely go on the internet alot of them so I am not worried in the least.
Also, some bosses smoke too so people wouldn't even be paranoid that the boss would find out.

I sort of agree with this. I think of pot as something you do when your young and silly and expermenting with life. When I see people doing it in their 30's and 40's and they have children I just feel like come on already grow up! Chat Icon

I have always agreed with this but then I think, why? Is there a certain age to drink, a certain age to smoke cigarettes? Why can't you have fun over the age of 30. It's like a woman having kids. Does she have to wear mom jeans just because she is a mom? Do I have to stop having a good time because I am a mom? As long as you are doing no harm to your family, then why do you have to stop the things you like to do?

For me it's more of a disappointment, but I also have similar feelings when I learn that people smoke cigarettes.

I knew a lot of people who used pot in college and I wasn't particulary fond of their behaviors. I was amazed at how such bright & creative people seemed so unintelligent when they were high.

I thinking drinking and smoking pot is a release for alot of people of all the stress in their lives. While I don't believe this is good, I also feel better when I am relaxed from the stresses of the week.
I don't understand disappointment unless they are so far gone (like the people in Intervention). A weekend smoke or couple of drinks, no matter what age should not bother you.
