POLL: Here's another one - When did AF first come to town?
When did AF first come to town for you? I was TEN and in 5th grade. I remember my mom telling my nanny I got it, and she ran up to me and said, "omg, Theresa! You're a woman now!!!" - Not at 10 gma!!!

I was just shy of 13.
I didn't tell anyone that I got it. I was so embarassed.
We didn't really talk about those things in my house. I snuck pads from my mom and from the health class supply cabinet for probably three months before she found out.

I was 11 years old and I was at the south shore mall......FUN!!!!
My mother made an announcement that I "became a lady" at the dinner table that night....I'm sure my brothers appreciated that info.....

It was Nov 1, 1985 I was ten. My grandma gave me money, my great grandmother prayed to every dead Italian saint, said 5 Hail Mary's and then said "Oh bubbala, you are now a woman" and then gave me money. It scared the hell out of me i thought I was dying.

i was 10. two months before my 11th bday.
i actually thought that if i didn't wear anything, it would go away. about an hour later, i had to change my clothes. thank goodness i was just in the backyard.

I was 10 and I hid it from my mom for about 2 years. I was so scared to tell her. Once she did find out, she told everyone that I 'was a woman" now and took me to the grocery store to buy pads. She brought my brothers with us too.

I'm glad to hear some of you were 10 because my daughter is 10 and I swear she is going to get it any minute now (everything else has happened if you know what I mean).

i was 13
only my grandmother was home so she came running bc i was screaming at the top of fmy lungs ( i was waiting for it but for some reason when it finally came. . .i didnt know what it was )
she proceeded to explain to me how disgusting it was - how i should never tell anyone that it happened - and how dirty it was.
Then she gave me a HUGE HUGE HUGE pad and explain to me that when i wanted to throw it out i had to wrap it in toilet paper, paper towels AND a paper bag kept in the bathroom for just this purpose!
thank goodness when my sister and mom got home they explained to me that it wasnt that bad and gave me some regular pads. . . THEN my mom SCREAMED over the fence to both my neighbors about how i was a woman.
