I was 11 in the early part of sixth grade. I didn't tell my mom - I was embarrassed. Not sure why though - she was very open & willing to talk to me about these things.

I was 14, the summer before I started 10th grade! I was embarrassed to get it so late so I lied about it freshman year of highschool when I was asked, even though people could tell - I still looked like a (very tall) little girl.

I was 13 and probably in the 7th grade. My mother slapped me in the face (may be a Jewish thing), gave me the Kotex book entitled "What Every Woman Should Know" and said for me to go to talk to my sister who wasn't that much of a help.

I was 9. I called my mother into the bathroom and showed her the tissue I couldn't believe how happy she was. She told all my aunts I was so embarrassed. They all came over with a basket made up with pads and books to celebrate me becoming a woman  .

I was 12 and at my Grandmothers when i got it...I was moritfied b/c when i came out of the bathroom ( i let my mom know while i was in the bathroom) My dad had a stupid smirk on his face and was laughing and my grandmother said "welcome to woman-hood"

I didn't tell anyone that I got it. I was so embarassed.
We didn't really talk about those things in my house. I snuck pads from my mom and from the health class supply cabinet for probably three months before she found out.
Me too...I thought I was the only one who hid it (for about 3 months as well). I was in 6th grade--12 years old. My mom found out because I was doing my own laundry, but evidently not doing such a good job...

Just turned 11. I woke up with it and then told my mom. when I walked into the kitchen after she gave me a pad, I don't know if she told my brothers and my dad but I felt like they knew and were staring at me!
