According to the standards, I am plus sized. I wear 14-16, depending on the brand and the fit. I wasn't always this size, I had forever been a 6 or 8, until my 30's then it all went downhill (and up sizes!).
I see myself in the mirror and I am ok with what I see. I see myself in pictures and I want to die  There is such a different body image, I just don't get it.
Every time I get weighed at the doc, they always put the scale at a low number, and then ask where I am hiding it. I weigh a lot more than people would ever guess. I hope to lose quite a few pounds. I just need to get motivated.

I dont know how to answer this b/c in jeans Im a 10 in tops Im an L but when I have to get a dress- ugh I have to either get an XL or go into the plus size b/c of my chest and then get alterations from boobs down, I hate hate dress shopping, with alterations it always cost me more.
I have to say jones of new york dresses the XL fits me great.

I would consider myself plus-sized, but I don't shop at plus sized stores.
I can usually fit into a 14 or 16 or XL in Ann Taylor Loft, New York & Company, Old Navy & the misses department in most department store brands.
Plus sized stuff is actually too big. A 14 W, is different than a regular 14.
Also, sometimes I'm a 12 in skirts, so have to look in a regular store.
I think everyone but my mom knows I'm fat though--she'll still buy me medium tops.

I am a plus size on bottom and regular on top. I consider 16 and up to be plus-sized. After DD was born, I have a mix of 16 and 18 pants due to my ever-loving-huge-arse.
I shop for pants at Lane Bryant and basically anywhere else for tops. I do not fit in any plus sized tops!

Size 12 is definitely not plus size in my mind. My mom is a 12 and she is not that much bigger than me and I am a 6. She is a little shorter but doesn't weigh that much more than me. Its not really about weight..its more about your frame size

I am not a plus size.
I wear go from a 6 to an 8 to a 10, depending on the cut.
frame size has A LOT to do with it. if you have naturally wider hips or a large rib cage, you start from a bigger place in general.
there are many women who are fit and in shape that wear a size 12.
I hate numerical sizing anyway. it's too arbitrary.
my hips dictate my life...and they, unlike some clothing co's...don't lie.

Same here. I wear a size 12, and I'd bet I have 45 - 50 pounds on other people my same height and clothing size. I have weight to lose (am working on it currently), but I also have a lot of muscle mass -- and therefore a lower %age of body fat than you'd expect for someone my height and weight.

I'm a 12 - have been a 14. I've NEVER shopped in the plus sized departments or stores and have never had to.
I personally don't consider a 12 or a 14 to be plus sized, but to each his own.
Same here.
Although, i do love NY&Co b/c by their sizes i'm a 10, and can fit into an 8 if i didnt eat breakfast (or, dinner the night before)

and another thing....ever notice that when you go to buy clothes and you need a 14..there are none left or only one or two.?
I asked someone this question and they told me that that's an average american size..that and 12s...

Plus sizes used to be 1x, etc... Not 12.
I don't think of a 12 is a plus size. I think 18+ is a plus size. Basically if you cannot find a size in the misses rack.... and need to shop in the woman section, you are probably a plus size.

I don't think this question can be answered by just taking into account sizes/ You need to consider the persons height. For example if you have a small person who is a size 8 but overweight for her height then she would be plus sized, right??
