Playtex drop in bottles vs dr browns
I want to switch my girls to these because I'm spending WAY too much time cleaning the stupid Dr. Browns and its taking time away from them. I work FT and when I get off work I feed them, eat a quick bite then do bottles. Its also killing my hands. (gloves are gross feeling and I need to feel the pieces with my hands to check for soap. Dishwasher is not full often so I cant just run 10 bottles in a load). Besides they are starting to drink over 4 oz so I need a bunch of new 8 oz bottles anyway.
Anyhoo.. 1) Has anyone switched from Dr Browns to these? Did you notice more gas?
2) I only saw 2 nipple sizes. 0-3+ and 3-6+. They couldnt get anything out of the 0-3+ so I gave them the 3-6+ and they drank super quick. I think this might be why twin 2 seems more gassy. They were on Dr. Browns level 2.
They arent picky with pacifiers anymore and use soothie, nuk and avent which are all different so I figured they could handle the new nipple. They seemed to latch but its flimsier so it was a little awkward to them.

I have them I did like them in the beginning and still do but you can't put them in the bottle warmer. I melted 2bottles and decided to switch. The older ones were different plastic I guess and didn't melt. We use the platex ventair but we still have to do bottles. I hear ya.

Do the ventair have a ton of parts? I watched the video online and they seem to have parts at the bottom, right? We warm them in hot water anyway so no fear of melting.

If you warm in hot water got the drop ins. DD wasn't happy with lukewarm so we needed to get a warmer. Otherwise I would still be using them. Yes the ventair have a removable bottom

I loooooove the Drop Ins. Love them!!! And super easy to warm up..........I would take a mug of hot water from Keurig, drop the bottle in, and it was warmed up in about two minutes. Using them again with baby #2.

Did your babies have any reflux issues? Twin 2 has it bit is getting better as she's sitting more upright. But I think the flow was too much for her. That with not being used to the nipple. I have to try them again. They were also really hungry do they were gavones which I'm sure added to the grassiness.

Used dr browns w ds and so annoying! With dd using drop ins and I couldn't be happier! So easy! I don't heat her bottles so using a bottle warmer wasn't an issue. When she was first vein I dropped the bottle in a mug if hot water for a minute to lessen the chill

Do you just pour it in to measure? I did that and I'm not even sure it's accurate. Should I use a measuring cup? See I'm dumb too. Lol

Lol I was pouring from the bottles I pumped into so I wasn't going to pour that in ANOTHER bottle! You vant measure well with the bags. Im sure someone else has a better suggestion. I'm sticking with my born frees.

Re: Playtex drop in bottles vs dr browns
we use both for the twins,at same time..like whatever is clean
dd has gas issues and is good with both kinds
drop ins easier to clean is the bonus but we like both
but also do not heat up,we do room temp so not sure about heating a drop in bottle

Re: Playtex drop in bottles vs dr browns
I used every bottle out there but DR. Browns.. Too many parts. No dish washer.. We ended up switching to the Playtex Ventaire bottles. The parts were easier to clean and they helped my son a lot. At 7 months, I switched to the regular gerber plastic bottles and they were even better. So easy to clean and my reflux/gassy baby had no issues with them!!!

Re: Playtex drop in bottles vs dr browns
I love the ventair bottles. They are easy to clean. the bottom has an extra silicone piece to cover the holes so the milk doesn't leak. There is 6 pieces all together. The nipple that goes into the cap, the bottle, the bottom piece and the silicone bottom pieces. And it's easy to clean by hand. I use the standard bottles and from what I've heard they fit the Dr. Brown's nipples. I use the playtex nipples. DD does OK with the medium and the fast flow nipples but I think she's getting used to the ease of the fast flow.

Playtex drop in bottles vs dr browns
I use the Playtex drop-ins but I've never tried Dr. Browns. I heard they were harder to clean because of all the parts. I heat DS's Playtex bottles in a mug of hot water. Daycare heats them in hot water in a crockpot. Never had any issues. As far as measuring, I measured what I pumped in the medela bottles and then poured in the bags. For formula, I make all my formula for the day in the Dr. Brown's mixing pitcher and just distribute the milk evenly between the bottles. Don't go by the measurement on the bags, they're definitely not accurate. HTH!

ventair have just as many (maybe more) parts.
with my older daughter we started with drop ins and i hated them. she couldnt latch on. we switched to ventair and i liked them. the only reason im not using them this time around is my daughter had a hard time learning to hold a bottle bc they were oddly shaped.
with the twins im using dr. browns and i like them.

I used them and DD had reflux and spit up issues. I just used the slow flow nipple until after 6 months. I tried going to medium aroudn 4 months and she would throw up the whole bottle. I loved these bottles- so easy, less to wash, you can push the air out for gassy babies We would just warm them in a cup of hot tap water

I tried the slow and noting came out of either of their botles. Like it was too hard for them to get it out. They can get it out of the level 1 dr browns but get tired after awhile so I switched 1 of them to the level 2 and shes fine. I was going to switch the other too. But then the fast was TOO fast. There is no in between.

Re: Playtex drop in bottles vs dr browns
We hated the dr browns bottles.
We have both the playtex ventair- wide and the playtex drop ins. They both use the same nipples so that is a big plus and why we went with the wide ventair bottles. The ventair has a bottom that screws off with one other piece. They're alot easier to clean that the dr browns and born free bottles IMO.
And with the drop ins I found that it you are making a lot of bottles at the same time. You make sure to measure the first one to where you want and just line them up and make them all the same amount as the liners and numbers on the side of the bottle don't always add up right. And the drop ins are sooo easy to heat up in a cup of hot water.
We had 2 reflux babies and the drop ins and ventair bottles seemed to work the best.

I do this exactly. Also, I find that if you keep the bottle upside down on the cap when you break for burps it helps to keep any air from getting back into the bag.
ETA: DD will be 4 months next week and I still have her on the slow flow nipple (0-3). There is a medium flow nipple too, not sure if thatis the 3-6 you have, bc they also make fast for the same age range. It should say it on the edge of the nipple itself. I wouldn't worry about what the age says, just go with what works for your DDs. I use the silicone nipples, but I think they make latex ones too - maybe experiment with each.

There is a 3-6 medium and fast, sorry! I still use the 0-3 slow, medium is a little too fast for my DD yet. Just wasn't sure if you knew there was 2 'speeds' for 3-6. HTH!

Re: Playtex drop in bottles vs dr browns
love the playtex! i tried Dr browns and hated the cleaning - plus i didn't notice a difference with DS using one vs the other so i only use playtex. I use the regular bottles and would warm in a hot cup of water. I find that if you buy the playtex drop ins the measurements are fairly accurate but if you buy another label for drop ins it is different. For instance i bought the BRU drop in brand and it was definitely smaller and less ounces than the playtex brand.
ETA: nipples come in slow, medium and fast i switched to medium at around 4 months.

I agree with Kristen! Love them.
Ds1 only used the drop ins and I never had an issue.
Ds2 had acid reflux and i tried Dr browns prior to him going on medication. And way, I hated Dr browns, all the parts, etc. So i went back to drop ins and didn't notice any change in gas level.
As far as the nipples, there is slow, medium and fast. I have never needed fast and ds2 is 21m. I used slow for probably 8-9m and then tried medium and have stayed there.
Eta- where are you located? I have a ton of the 4oz ones you can have you would just need to buy the nipples. FM me.

both my girls did great with the dropins and both had reflux and it makes it so much easier that you dont have to wash bottles.
