At what age do you stop putting your kids picture on a holiday card?

Picture Holiday Cards
I don't do picture cards, but I roll my eyes when kids are in High School and still on a Christmas Card. Actually after age 5 I don't want to see it anymore, but i'm sure I'm in the minority!

I have a lot of friends and family that still put kid pics on their Xmas cards and their kids are in high school and college and I think it's so sweet, I love them!! I LOVE picture cards in general so IMO, there is no definite age that you need to stop.

I agree. I would rather get a picture card than a boring boxed card
At least a picture card is more interesting
I also see people put their grandkids on their cards once their kids are grown and married.

My kids are 8 and 3, not stopping anytime soon. Just a question, out of sheer curiosity, WHY would you ever roll your eyes at a family Xmas card? Who cares how old a child is or what pics someone uses? Kind of a "Grinchy" attitude, don't you think? I'm thankful for any Xmas card I receive whether it's handwritten, pre-printed or covered in pics.

Me too!!
I got the most beautiful card one year, it was a whole family (grandparents with their kids and grandchildren) and they wore coordinating colors. It was an awesome picture and a nice celebration of family.

Picture Holiday Cards
My daughters are 15 & 17 and I still send out picture cards. I feel like we have so many friends and family scattered all around the world, that I think it's nice for people to see pictures of the kids each year. It's my DH that thinks the kids are getting too old.

Agreed. I much prefer photo cards. I like to see how big everyone is getting. Ya know, typically the people you get cards from you care about.

When I'm 6 feet under 
I love getting photo cards. My neighbor actually sends out a photo card of her entire family-them, kids, grandkids. I save photo cards, and after her husband passed away, it's been so nice to have those photos of him when I take them out each winter.

I really love photo cards too. I save them with my Christmas stuff & each year I love comparing the new ones to the old ones to see how much kids have grown. I send out a photo card of my cat in front of the tree every year lol

I love photo cards, and love hanging them for the holidays.
DH and I don't have children and we send out a photo card every year.
It will have photos of our vacation, outings where we take a good selfie, pictures of our cats.
Whatever looks good and interesting goes on the card.

I agree, my parents send out a photo card with the grandkids and them on it. I prefer receiving a photo card!

I would much rather get a "boring" card that has a personal message than a picture of kids. Not going to justify how I feel...BELIEVE me, I am not the only person who rolls their eyes at photo cards of big kids and parents....I'm sure many of your( not you in particular, general you) family and friends feel the same way! The OP asked for our opinions, I gave mine, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I didn't grow up in the generation of photo cards, maybe that's why I don't like them, but honestly, unless it's a pic of a cute baby, I don't want it. Also not sure since we were asked for opinions, why I'm being singled out and why my personal opinion, that WE WERE ASKED TO GIVE, is not acceptable None of you are sending me Christmas cards, so it really shouldn't matter!

I will address the not signing part.
I agree with you on that.
That is why I go out of my way to find a folded card that looks like a real card- so that I can open it up, write Dear So and So, and a small note in each. I am not talking a paragraph- just a personal one liner. "hope to see you soon!" "Looking forward to seeing you on Christmas Day!" "Enjoy the baby's first Christmas"
Just something to show I didn't just stuff it in an envelope with no thought at all.
And I am not a fan of pictures of myself at ALL so I'd never be in the picture. I always say- NOBODY wants to see me, trust me. They all want to see DD, so it's always just her.

Kids are 11 and 8 and still sending them, with the dog too!! Will be sending them with kids on them until they are no longer under our roof. When we stop paying for them, they are off the card LOL. I save all of the photo cards we get and love looking at them every year to see how much the kids have changed.

I bought a bunch of black frames and I display each year's holiday card every year. It's so cool to see how she's grown and adds to the holiday decor to have them all framed and displayed

No need to be defensive, your response just seemed odd to me.
I've never heard of someone being annoyed by a picture Xmas card. FTR, I don't give a crap about them being personalized or someone signing them..............it doesn't change the sentiment behind receiving a card in the first place. I ONLY get cards from close friends and family and since these are people I care about I enjoy seeing their kids and families. I would hope they feel the same!!

Sorry if you were offended but truthfully, I can't believe that anyone would get their panties in a bunch over a Xmas card. Just seems a little ridiculous in the grand scheme of life. I would hope the people I know IRL don't feel the same way, I just assumed since they care about me and my family they would enjoy seeing a pic of my children at the holidays. Good to know some people might be rolling their eyes, how sad.

it's funny you say that, I am 42 and every year my parents did a photocard of my sis and I.
It wasn't the kind of photocards and variety we have now, it was pretty much done by the Fuji lab or whatever- the picture and on the side or bottom a little greeting and our names stamped on it.
Like the most basic photo cards of today.
My dad always took the pics- or we usually used a pic from our summer vacation. No professional photogs or anything like that.
But we have them going way back to the 70s. It's really cool to see them now too, the progression of us (and our HAIR STYLES as we got older!  )

I will probably stop once they go away to college.
But to me box cards are really boring. I would much rather hang a card that has a picture. I love looking at everyone's pictures. And I love how creative people get with their cards.

That's so cool to have!! My hair in the 80's would've looked spectacular at Xmas!!! 
My parents wrote out Xmas cards by hand, I don't really remember getting photo holiday cards from anyone. Sometimes we'd get a card with a 3x5 pic slipped inside but that's about it.
I love seeing how everyone's kids/families have changed year over year. I have a huge stack of Xmas cards in one of my Xmas boxes, I just add the new stack to the pile every year. I like looking back at the pictures, it's so nice.
